Anyone know of any good putting drills for getting more consistent with putts within 5 feet. We all know those are the putts that keep our scores down. I have my good days and bad days. Most are bad. It burns when I miss par's from 5 feet.

one drill is to put your putter face right against the ball and just push the ball into the cup.....keep doing that so that it gives you a better sense of the feel off your putter face....
the second thing to do is position two tees right in front of the hole and make the distance between the two narrower than the actual hole...try to putt it with the smaller hole so that you can eventually learn to be more accurate by creating a narrower line to the cup.....
hope that helps!Feherty: " 270 to carry the water, you might want to lay up SnowFlake "

i think putting has a lot to do with confidence and poise. it's sort of like a free throw in basketball...although it is a little different in golf since there could be slight changes in the green speed or other variables, i suggest staring with a lot of practice on flat greens

practice, practice, practice. then more practice until you are comfortable with your stroke.
i like to practice on straight flat putts. then when you have confidence in your stroke, try moving a little farther away until you are at 5 ft. then when you've mastered that, try hammering them in from that distance. don't worry if they don't go in as long as they are straight at the hole.
when you consistently hit the putt where you want it, you gain a great deal of confidence in your putting.
good luck!Jaydog

Perhaps you could pay off your buddies to turn their heads when you putt. In that way you'll never miss, but it'll cost you lots....
Just kidding....cheaters suck...
I practice a clock drill, where I surround a hole from about 4 feet and continually hit putts to the back of the hole. I like it....got it from Tom Watson when he could really putt.
God I love this game.....
