so anyone see the article in the Metro Today about golf vacations in Mississippi? said it was cheaper than going to Carolinas or Florida...and just as good!

Whats cheap? Would rather golf in Muskoka or North New York State. Lots of packages for under $100 per day. www.golfmuskoka.com

What's a Canadian to do this Winter?

I'm a novice golfer and just starting to really get into the game this year. With the winter months coming and no hockey to watch...I think I'll start to get the Canadian winter blues. I want to avoid this by planning a golf vacation. I didn't see the ad about golf in the Mississippi. Where are the nicest places to golf in the US during the winter months? I came across an ad for Golf in Phoenix or Scottsdale Arizona. $119 USD per night at the Marriot resort. It includes 2 complimentary 50 min spa massages, 2 rounds of golf at Wildfire Golf club, a $100 dining certificate or $100 shopping certificate. Is that a good deal?

Hey, thats a great deal. The Carolina's, Florida, Arizona are all great for winter golf. The cheapest months to go are Nov, Dec, Jan. We went to Santee, SC last Feb. Was alright golf. Would rather go to Myrtle Beach or Kiawah Islands or Arizona. If I have the time, I'm in...can't get away from work now though. I guess its just watching the lowly Raptors and the indoor ranges!

Yes there a lot of cities in the US trying to promote avid golfers from around the world to come to their towns. What does it for them especially is the price. Some courses have crazy deals for good courses...something to the tune of $100USD for 3 rounds of golf.....it's also sometimes good to get out of town and visit other places as well.....especially with our Canadian winters

Hey Focker, Thanks for the list of places. My parents own a timeshare resort and we can trade our week to visit any destination in the US. So Florida, Myrtle Beach, Kiawah Islands or Arizona are going to be on my list now. I'll definitely keep that in mind when I look for good deals over the winter months.

Hey Ems...there is a catch to it. In fine print is says that you have to listen to a 90 min timeshare presentation. But it is still a good deal as long as you don't get roped into buying another piece of timeshare. If you want to find out more on these deals you can check it out at www.intervalworld.com.

                      Re: Golf vacationing in Mississippi?

I am planning a golf trip in November. Right now I am trying to decide between going back to Arizona or South Florida. I have been to Myrtle, Hilton Head and North Carolina in late November previous. On weather alone I would limit myself to South Florida or AZ. If I am travelling any great distance I want at least warm golfing weather.

I did MB last year and was thoroughly disappointed. Not so much in the golf as the (Although I thought many of the courses were overrated)as the coney island feel, and cheap quality, high priced restaurants.

I would be interested to hear from anyone who can tell me where they think the best golf (quality/price) etc is in South Florida. I am also trying to get a feel for what kind of prices to expect for golf in Scottsdale/Phoenix
