View Full Version : Golfing with the opposite sex

From what I hear, golfing with the opposite sex could get irritating, most of these times, one is force upon it and have no choice.

Whether it's:
having to wait for slow golfing
having seperate tee boxes
course is too short/long
course is too easy/difficult
searching for balls (not your own)

What does everyone else here think? Do you enjoy it? Which do you prefer?

I think I prefer golfing with my own gender. In th end, golf is suppose to be enjoyment, not a burden :P

Wow Mok,
Are you opening up a can of worms or what??? hahaha...I LOVE PLAYING WITH THE OPPOSITE SEX!!!!...oh, whoops, you're talking about golf...OK...I honestly enjoy playing golf with the opposite sex. They dont' always slow down the group, there are ways to overcome the different tee boxes. Playing "ready" golf regardless if your male/female is the key. You can play with all guys and be slower than with girls. As for looking for balls and stuff. I can easily say that about guys too. I've played with an older lady who was awesome. She shot 5 over par in the back 9 I played with her. She almost outdrove me too. Its who you play with, not the gender.

a he-she?

It's true I was going to mention that but forgot to, it's not about the gender really but more about the ability and the awareness.

Actually this question was supposed to be geared more towards the females, I want to know their opnion when paired with male strangers? female strangers? male friends? female friends? higher skilled players? lower skilled players?

hmm...Mok I don't believe you when you say that you were gearing this one to the ladies! But I'll answer this one by giving you the benefit of the doubt.

There are plenty of guys out there that would not bring their gf, fiancee, or wife to golf with them. I've actually had this discussion before with my coworkers and they all hate playing with their significant other. But the reason they gave me is quite understandable. The men all say that they do not want to play with a woman in their foursome if that woman does not enjoy golf. So it has nothing to do with slower play or a higher handicap. It has everything to do with the woman complaining or not following instruction or breaking golf rules. The women who gave their opinion, all say that they feel like they get in the way. The women feel that they bring a different dynamic into the foursome. Which I also agree with. Ladies that have brought a guy along with them on a shopping trip with 3 other girls, should know what I am talking about! They just don't fit in! ;)
As for me, I don't mind playing with guys that I know but I do feel very intimidated when I play with guys I don't know. However, overall, I found that I play more relaxed golf when I'm just playing with the girls. Somethings are made better when co-ed. (Such as those washrooms on Ally McBeal.) With Golf it's just made different...not better.

there are definitely some times where golfing only with all guys is more enjoyable....we can pretty much say anything to each other (i.e. trash talking and such) just cuz they won't take it too personally....you can pretty much mirror this with girls and their shopping just as QB said. Girls bringing guys to a mall (provided he's a straight guy :p ) would admit that it's not the same as shopping with all girls in the group....this is just the way some things are.....

At the same time co-ed golf is totally fun too ....I love golfing with my honey buns!! She makes it very enjoyable! :D (you guys can puke now..ahaha..)...however its just a bit different than golfing with all guys...for those of you who'd played rounds with both genders, you know what I'm talking about.....

ah yes, great answer Ego...

vet, any comments towards the thread topic?

yah i think i kinda misworded my first post above...

anyways, 3 girls/1 guy situation in a mall is a little different i would say, you would have to compare 2 guys/2 girls, then it would be more relevant, wouldn't you say?

At the same time co-ed golf is totally fun too ....I love golfing with my honey buns!! She makes it very enjoyable! :D

i couldn't agree more with that, there is always exception to the rule! heh...who doesn't love a lovely round with the wifey? strolling the course with beautiful scenery, playing one's favourite hobby and of course spending quality time together :D :D :D i can't speak for everyone though, maybe others have had bad experiences with the mrs

I never have a problem golfing with the opposite sex...I spent a large amount of $$$ on clubs for my wife, which most guys would think is suicide, and she plays with me all the time. There are time where we would argue but it's just "fore play":) I'd rather be grouped with girls then golf with some nut that swears and throws hyper fits all the time.:D

you forgot that this same individual who throws hyper fits also probably THROWS his clubs and balls towards the direction of his playing partners! :D HMMMM..I think I see an etiquette question coming up for myself....eh, why the heck not....

That's coz you've never played with me on the course ;)

It's funny to read the guys suck up to their girls on this thread... except focker, but he'll regret it.

I on the other hand enjoy playing golf with my significant other. Then I don't have to look for my ball, estimate my distance to the hole, think about what club to use or pull my pull-cart.:)

Dang Ems,
Whomever your sig other is, I feel for him. Thats a lot to ask for on the golf course when he's trying to concentrate on his own game. So does he have to make sure you're alright? Hungry? Tired? Need more sunblock? Thats not golf, thats just being a princess on the course. Maybe you should think, "hey, he's having a good round, maybe I should be quiet and let him concentrate."

Actually, I'm very quiet on the course. He knows what to do without me asking for it.

Ems, you are the perfect reason that guys don't want to golf with girls! Thank you for making it perfectly clear for all of us!

Focker, I think we gotta go and win that Maxim Girls Golf Contest.....blonde bikini chicks caddying for us, playing in the sand, serving us cold one, and pampering us like no tomorrow! SWEET MOTHER OF ****! :D

Sorry Ego, you can't get away from golfing with me. I'm joining you guys on Sunday  . Remember to bring your golf retriever, I don't want Focker getting his shorts wet retrieving my balls. :)

Golfing with the opposite sex has its pleasures. But as some of you said earlier, it's only fun when the opposite sex knows the etiquettes and rules. Also no complainers!

Well it's just me and one other girl friend golfing tomorrow at Maples of Ballantrae. We couldn't get a foursome. So I'll let you know if we see other hot girls golfing on their own. Or if we get paired up with two hot guys. ;)

Hey QB, if you need two more, don't be afraid to use the Find Playing Partners (http://www.torontogolfnuts.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11)

Thanks for the tip Mok. That's a really useful feature because at Maples of Ballantrae, I actually saw a lot of straglers golfing...by themselves or just in a twosome. They weren't busy this past weekend so they allowed that.
