No, no it's not about Tiger Woods and how he takes a bath, u dumbos!

I especially liked this part:

"Tour officials tested the grooves in Phil Mickelson's wedges two years ago because someone saw him hit a shot out of the rough with an extraordinary amount of spin. Before long, Mickelson figured out it was Michael Clark, and left him a note in his locker thanking him for his concern and wishing him well at Q-school."

I read that in the Star today too. It was Tom Pernice Jr who questioned Tiger's driver. Typical Tiger says the politically correct thing "if someone wanted to test my driver, I'd be honored," he added. "With new equipment, you never know." Inside, he's probably thinking of shoving his driver down his throat!

I would think privately that Tiger would feel insulted. Doesn't make sense for an elite player to cheat or take advantage...oops, Balco and MLB aside--too much scrutiny. Now if, say, Corey Pavin went from averaging 265 to 291 then maybe someone would want to test his driver. I like Tiger's response, hidden beneath his "correct" response: 'Yeah, go ahead and check my driver. I'm longer now, and really longer than you, and it's all legal. Thanks, Hank.'
Phil, on the other hand, is a schmoe.

Can you imagine the SCANDAL if Tiger's driver would have failed, would have been like steroids!

His image, reputation, and all the respect he's got with all those wins would mean absolutely ZERO!!! Man would that be news!!!

I think the fact that Pernice is Singh's friend might have something to do with it.

Just wondered...what makes a driver, iron or any club illegal on tour?

The one thing players are concerned about is too much springboard effect in another players driver giving them an unusual amount of distance which has become illegal.

I think Phil's wife is for show and he actually dated Tom Pernice and they were having a spat. Phil just don't look straight and thats as nice a s I can put that.:nono:

I am surprised however, that steroid testing hasn't become a hot topic on tour.
Have you seen Adam Scotts' arms lately?

Just wondered...what makes a driver, iron or any club illegal on tour? Are you just trying to play devils' advocate here QB? How can you bring in good ol VJ in this? There are tons of PGA players that are friends of VJ's...does that mean if anyone says anything negative, racist, discriminatory or sexist than its a conspiracy to get Tiger?

Though I don't know the exact technical terms of it but a few things make a club illegal. Size of club , length of club, the "springboard" effect of a driver, the grooves. Am I missing anything else?

I think the media or that article in particular is trying to catch an angle to it by saying that Pernice is a friend of VJ's....they'll do anything to grab attention...sad...

According to the article, it didn't sound like Pernice was trying to attack Tiger's character.

Do you think people who ask for inquiries should be kept anonymous?

According to the rules, it IS supposed to be anonymous to not cause any unnecessary tension or ill feelings. BUT because Tiger is Tiger, somebody probably told him or leaked out the info on purpose. Its the whole Tiger conspiracy. OR Tiger paid the guys who test the club to tell him who requested the check :hush:
