This weeks event is the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone. An event he's won 4 times in it's 7 year existence.

I am referring to Tiger Woods for thise who don't know.

&8 players in the field with 47 of the top 50 playing.

Any thoughts?

ANY tounament he enters he is a favourite and considering he's on his "A" game right now it makes even more plausible.

Indeed. I didn't think there was a big event this weekend. Past posts led me to believe there was another event this weekend...which there is...the Reno-Tahoe Open...a B event.

I have to say, the odds are in his favour to win it this week. As he always seems to do well in WGC events. Does he have a big enough room to store all his trophies?

I believe the building in the right foreground is the Trophy House:

I think he has a slightly better chance than the field. LOL.

Its almost like any tourny he enters, its for him to lose. He`s got to be the hands down favourite to win any tourny he plays in. 4 in a row wont surprise me with his current game now. His GIR`s and putting stats alone are astonishing, forget whether he hits fairways or not. He`s in some kind of zone right now and Steve Williams doesnt even think he`s playing his best.

I don't consider this to be his A game as his driver isn't even working. The fact that he's hitting fwy woods and irons off the tees, tells you that even in his mind he's making concessions to deal with the driver problems.

I'd love to see him pull out the ole 975D X100 for a round instead of hitting the 5wd.

Was Stevie just poking fun at Dave Pelz after his "scientific comments".

just be grateful you have the chance to watch the greatest golfer of all time, most people will realize this only when he is old and about to retire. So turn the teli on, pop a beer and enjoy the ride.

He is always a favourite no matter what tournament he plays in, and justifiably so. He is ONE of the greats that played/is playing the game.

But I gotta tell ya, I like a "dark horse" like Geoff Ogilvy. :shhh:

Pelz is not a bad guy, he does not crave the spotlight as much as Rick 'Ford' Smith. I really think he made an honest mistake expressing his belief to the media. On top of that, I really do not think his assessment of Phil and Tiger's short game is accurate. His analysis is missing some critical factors. Seems like his scientific methodology needs a feedback loop to prevent it from being a run-away system.

Also, I think he is paying the price for the comment. His credibility probably fell substantially after the PGA Championship.

Well, TW is leading by 2 after 9. Birdied the first 4 holes. 2 ahead of Scott who is +1 for the day after 9.

The only question I have is.. WHO IS GOING TO BEAT HIM? For the next while, they might as well sign the cheques to his name, and have the rest of the field play for second... LOL

Sign the cheques? They should start engraving the trophies as well for the rest of the year !!

Anyone see that commercial when the trophy engraver was putting in Nicklaus' name for the umpteenth time?

On Sunday I was expecting Tiger's face to be popping up in the reflection of the trophy... haha

Well, -9 for the tourney so far. 64 for the day. I'd say that's a pretty good day at the office! 212 yard 9-iron on his second shot on his 18th hole?

Although he didn't walk/run away with it, he sealed the deal. Is it just me or did he seem to be trying different types of shots? Don't know what hole it was, but he hit a 7* from 149 yds. For him, that's normally a wedge.

I can't remember the hole either, but he used an 8-iron from 124 yards and stuck it to 6 feet. One of the commentators said that he was playing shots he used in the Open in England.

I find it amusing that after his 2 major wins, he comes out in this course and decides to "try" different shots and still beats the filed. It"s almost arrogant...but then again, he is that good.

I don't think he was trying something that's unusual. He didn't have his long game today. And his irons weren't as accurate as they normally are. That's why I think he was going to 3/4 shots to improve the accuracy. And his woods were mostly 3- and 5-wood stinger shots. Yes, he is that good.

On the anniversary of his 10th year on tour, Woods does it again. This guy is a walking billboard to complete golf. His physical game is only surpased by his mental ability to hit shots and make putts when it counts. Look at Saturday. HE blows up over 6 holes but at the end of the day he's only 1 shot back. He gets the look back in his eyes. 12 majors, 52 wins in his first 10 years, what else can you say except for the next 10 years should be a lot of fun to watch!!

It was interesting seeing the pressure he put on Cink to make his putts. It was evident from the look on Cinks face that he just handed the tourney to TW after he missed the putt on the 3rd playoff hole.

BTW, This win now gives TW a world golf ranking of 20.99. 12.06 points ahead of Phil, who is 2nd (and unbeatable within 150 yds.)
