Congratulations to Richie Ramsay, first Scottish winner of the US Amateur for more than 100 years! Richie is from my home-town of Aberdeen, so I'm extra pleased.
I watched him play last year in the Scottish strokeplay, he looked a very good player, but no better than those around him. Now, he's looking forward to a place in the US Masters at Augusta and the Open at Carnoustie next year. Also, he'll be teeing it up with Geoff Ogilvy and Tiger at the US Open - WOW!!
He's a "Luke Donald" type of player, doesn't overpower courses (still scored an approximate 69 at the 7,473 yard Hazeltine course this morning) but doesn't make many mistakes.
