I thought I would post this as we did this last night for our weekly Men’s Night. Something different and it was actually quite fun.

Everyone will use only 3 clubs plus a putter.
Take a deck of cards, cut it 3 times. You can use either the top or bottom card of each cut pile to decide which clubs you will be allowed to use.
The number on the cards you draw will represent the clubs you use.
2=2 iron, if you do not carry a 2 iron then it represents a gap or sand wedge.
3=3 iron, or hybrid of equal loft
4=4 iron or hybrid of equal loft
5=5 iron
6=6 iron
7=7 iron
8=8 iron
9= 9 iron
10= PW
Jack, Queen or King = Fairway woods
Ace = Driver

Once you have your clubs you have to remove the rest of the clubs from your bag. That way you can not possibly use them by mistake REMEMBER YOU ARE ALLOWED TO CARRY YOUR PUTTER.

Now get out there with a group of your friends and play 9 holes. You better hope you drew at least a fairway wood card! One guy last night had to play with driver, 3 wood and his Hybrid. :eek: Not sure how he made out!

I had 5 wood, PW and 52* wedge, shot 6 over. If my damn putter was on I would have maybe been +3 at the worse. When you can not reach par 4's in two you better be putting well. My playing partner had his hybrid, 5 and 6 irons. Needless to say those 30 yard chip shots were not easy He did manage to chip in twice for par with his 6 iron and almost aced a par 3 at 134 with a smooth knockdown 6 iron!:D

I thought it was great fun to play 9 holes this way. It makes you think, makes you play differently. Try it sometime! Funny thing was the one Par 5, I parred with 5 wood, PW, 52 to the green and two putts. I do the same with the driver in my hand :rofl:

When I played in the men's league at RiverEdge, we played a similar game, except that it was three clubs only - putter was not in addition to the three, but could be one of the clubs.

I took three iron, 7 iron and 52* wedge. Putted with the three iron. Did surprisingly well and was one of my favourite games that we'd play.

Our way wasn't as random as the deck of cards way, so that would be an interesting twist. Sure did make for a nice light golf bag.

Wally hasn't played that game yet this year. :(

Wally hasn't played that game yet this year. :(

Just remind him, his old mind must be on the talent at Roxxxane's :rofl:

you'd like the game, it was probably one of the most discussed games I could remember.

Tell me Wally isn't playing pink-ball every session... :mad:

Don't think pink ball has been played in months, when I have been there at least. I think I would have heard about it if it had been played. Games have been very limited this year. Probably difficult for him to work some of them in when there has been such a poor turn out. Pink ball with 12-16 would not be all that interesting. Of course many a night it is not all that interesting after the first or second hole...........if ya know what I mean. :D I don't mind playing it once or twice per year.........but I would prefer not to use a ball that has been borrowed from Fred & Barney.

From my understaning the men's league at Savannah is also struggling to get a turn out. Sounds like a pattern..........must be a reason?:confused:
