I thought I would post this as we did this last night for our weekly Men’s Night. Something different and it was actually quite fun.
Everyone will use only 3 clubs plus a putter.
Take a deck of cards, cut it 3 times. You can use either the top or bottom card of each cut pile to decide which clubs you will be allowed to use.
The number on the cards you draw will represent the clubs you use.
2=2 iron, if you do not carry a 2 iron then it represents a gap or sand wedge.
3=3 iron, or hybrid of equal loft
4=4 iron or hybrid of equal loft
5=5 iron
6=6 iron
7=7 iron
8=8 iron
9= 9 iron
10= PW
Jack, Queen or King = Fairway woods
Ace = Driver
Once you have your clubs you have to remove the rest of the clubs from your bag. That way you can not possibly use them by mistake REMEMBER YOU ARE ALLOWED TO CARRY YOUR PUTTER.
Now get out there with a group of your friends and play 9 holes. You better hope you drew at least a fairway wood card! One guy last night had to play with driver, 3 wood and his Hybrid. :eek: Not sure how he made out!
I had 5 wood, PW and 52* wedge, shot 6 over. If my damn putter was on I would have maybe been +3 at the worse. When you can not reach par 4's in two you better be putting well. My playing partner had his hybrid, 5 and 6 irons. Needless to say those 30 yard chip shots were not easy He did manage to chip in twice for par with his 6 iron and almost aced a par 3 at 134 with a smooth knockdown 6 iron!:D
I thought it was great fun to play 9 holes this way. It makes you think, makes you play differently. Try it sometime! Funny thing was the one Par 5, I parred with 5 wood, PW, 52 to the green and two putts. I do the same with the driver in my hand :rofl:
