My son and I were at the driving range yesterday when some guy comes up and asks us to stop for a minute because he lost his driver head. We say "sure" and he proceeds to ask everyone on the firing-line before running out to the 80 yard mark to retrieve his driver head. Talk about embarassing! There were at least 25 people there laughing at the poor guy. His driver head travelled out 80 yards, but it also went at least that far to his left. I wonder where the ball went on that one?

This guy has a faulty driver that flew off the handle. Unlike most people, he decided to ask people to stop for a moment to let him retrieve the driver head. I don't think that is embarassing and I don't know why these '25' people were laughing at this guy.

Because it was funny. When was the last time you saw someone run onto the driving range to retrieve a driver head? Nobody was giving him a hard time, Bellyhungry, you needn't feel sorry for him. Perhaps I would have been embarassed, but he wasn't. Relax man.

Let's say I have seen more embarassing conducts by people on the range, retrieving iron/driver heads included.

Over the past 3 weeks, I've seen two cases of the heads flying off at the range.
Both were brand new sets. One was a Jazz woman's and the other was a man's. I looked at the heads and shafts and the bond broke in both. In one case the embedment was not enough, contributing to the problem with the bond.
There was a time when graphite shafts broke frequently at the hosel, because the shafts were flawed and/or cheap, or the hosels did not have the edges ground.

nothing funny about spending $$$ on a club you think is good or decent quality and having the head fly across the range.

I went out once and retrieved a driver and guy had thrown. When I tried to return it to him, after he had coooled down, he still didn't want it. Reshafted it a sold it to a co-worker for $75.00.
