View Full Version : ~Golf Vacation Recommendations Please!~

Myself and two gal pals are looking at booking two weeks down south in November for a golf vacation. Normally we go to Mexico... and have never done a 'golf' holiday before.

Can anyone recommend their favourite vacation spots that will have hot weather in November? (We'd be happy to consider any warm weather locale). Our plan is to golf eight or nine or the fourteen days there~ so if you can think of any hotels or packages that had golf packages included, that would be really helpful.

Thanks!

Since there ARE only three of you going, you may want to pick up a fourth. Im sure there will be a huge lineup if you posted in the "find playing partners" section.

hahaha.

There are tons of places that arrange golf vacations. You can even google it and find some good deals or just drive south and stop somewhere.

Depends how important the quality of the golf course is to you and how much extracurricular stuff you want to do. Myrtle is great for golf but not much else, I'd suggest looking at an all inclusive resort down south in the caribbean that includes the golf in the cost so you can go to the beach, nightlife and golf.

I think the quality of the courses isn't as important as also having other fun stuff to do as well ~ ie: restaurants, nightlife, beaches, nice resort, etc...

I did find one that looks perfect... Playacar Palace in Playa del Carmen (fly into Cancun).... except the resort seems very mellow. That may not be a problem because we'll be golfing during the day anyway and if we want some fun at night, it seems to be pretty close walking distance to the main area of restaurants and bars.

What I like about this package as well is that you have several choices for golf courses in the area, 18 holes of golf is included each day, transportation to the courses as well. Plus all your food/ beverages at the clubhouse and on the courses is included in your golf package.

I'm trying to find out a bit about Dominican Republic as well. I've heard that there is some nice golf there too. I've been there once and didn't find that there was a ton to do off the resort though.... although that could simply be where we were staying.

The nice thing about Myrtle Beach is that the golfing is great and there are certainly tons of stay and play packages available too. Not sure what the weather is like in November though~?

I was in MB last November (although it was the first week) and the weather was warm (mid 70s - hit 80 a couple of times). I wore shorts - but my friend from Carolina was in pants and a long sleeve shirt. You could pick out the tourists versus the natives! The water was too cold to go swimming in on the beach, I did see a couple of people lounging on the beach but it was pretty rare. Because that is considered off season for MB - a lot of stores along the strip aren't open (think of Niagara Falls strip on a grander scale). The golf was great and I would recommend that. Passed that it's shopping and day trips around the area.

BTW - even the natives said that was warm for that time of year.

The average temperature for Myrtle Beach in November is 69 F. In addition to the 100 golf courses and numberous accommodations to choose from, there are hundreds of restaurants, lots of shopping and plenty of nightlife. Let us know if you have any further questions. Thanks.

I've organized golf vacations for a group of 8 guys for the past 4 years. We've gone to Myrtle 3 times and orlando this year. I've always been tempted to go down further south given the weather is warmer and there are other activities to do other than golf. You may want to look at Acapulco, the Fairmont Acapulco princess and it's sister resort that's right beside it but I can't remember it's name right now. They have packages for golf, there's a golf course at each hotel. It's all inclusive including drinks on the course. It hardly rains in Acapulco. Nightlife is awesome and the clubs are far more grandiose then anything we have here. Downside with the princess hotel is it's on the other side of the mountain from Acapulco so you need to cab in to the city.

If I was going on a golf holiday in November I'd seriously consider Arizona.
I've been to Phoenix in mid to late December and the weather was terrific.
We took a day trip up thru Sedona and to the Grand Canyon.

Since I've been to Phoenix, I'd head to Tucson for my next Arizona golf trip.

Western flavour of Arizona is really great. Weather and the environment is worth the trip.

A co-worker went to Vegas on a golf trip. Five star hotels...great golf courses.......oodles and oodles of entertainment and night life!

He had a blast and is trying to get me to go with him next time.

I also like the Arizona idea.

I had a really good time at the Westin LaCantera (http://www.westinlacantera.com/) in San Antonio Texas last year. Fabulous resort and the Palmer course is outstanding. The downtown Riverwalk is ony a short drive away for nightlife activities, or you can stay on the Riverwalk and commute to courses.

One word of advice...Golf vacation packages have a habit of sticking you with the cheapest rooms in the resorts to keep the cost attractive. I guess they figure you will be out golfing all day and too tired at night to care. So if booking a package, be very specific on room type, pool view, facilities etc., or call the resort directly and book.

Chiming in late here but have you considered Thailand? Check the seasons first though to make sure November is not rainy.

It is expensive to get to, yes, but once you are there, it's incredible value. Golf is usually $50 a round and you get a caddie for $10. Food is wonderful and the shopping out of this world. If you like to shop, you'll be in heaven.

But here's the best part - the massages. Thai massage is like yoga without any effort. Incredibly relaxing and just the ticket after golf.

just got back this week and this is an awesome all inclusive...highly recommend it...the drinks are NOT included on the course now....Lucky for us, they provide ice and a cooler and never really "check" your bags after they say we shouldn't bring our own drinks on the course.

best thing is there's a Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and Costco just outside the gates so you can save quite a bit on bottle water or other drinks over the resort prices (only one bar you can get inclusive drinks).
