I'm golfing today with Carlton and was stung by a bee! I thought it had gone away but right in the middle of my back swing the stupid thing stung me on the left hand right below the thumb. I had never been stung before and was happy to learn I wasn't allergic! However, it is killing me.
I was stung on the 10th hole and still played 36 holes. I must admit that I played much better after I was stung.
This should make tomorrows round interesting!

Oi!
I can relate~ I was stung about three or four weeks ago ( on the golf course as well). It was crazy how much it made my hand swell up and literally 'stung' *hence the name I'm sure*
You played better afterwards is the funny part though!

I told her to suck it up and stop whining! LOL, just kidding.
DKS is a trooper! I kept asking if she wanted to double back to the clubhouse to get some Afterbite or treatment and she said no way and with that, picked up her club and went on playing. I think she hit all the fairways after she got stung!

Happened to me in a tourney looking for a competitors ball. 4 holes later, i found out I was alergic. What a nice way to finish the round having a hard time breathing with an asthma attack. I am now supposed to carry an eppy pen with me, but I never do.
Just an FYI to anyone who plays golf with me, I am very stupid, and never carry it.

You should have heard the potty mouth on that girl after she got stung! I'm surprised I haven't gotten a letter warning me about course conduct and guest's responsibilities in my locker yet! Just kidding... :D
Scott can give you mouth-to-mouth should anything crazy like that happen to you during the TGN Ryder Cup.

FYI, if you are allergic, you never react to the first sting. To develop the allergy, you have to be exposed to the venom. Then it takes a few weeks to develop the allergy. On the second sting, you react.

I'm thinking now's the time to speak with a doc to see if you need to start carrying the dreaded pen with you everywhere. But be careful....a friend of my GF's son had an allergy to bee venom from when he was a kid. He eventually "grew out of it" because he's no longer allergic. He got stung at a football game and aside from hyperventilating, no allergic reaction. Fortunately, my GF stopped him from using the pen.

My nice's husband and i were playing one day,he's in the woods and the next thing he's running like crazy after getting stung. He goes to his bag and gets out the pen and jab's him self again. I felt sorry for him, darted twice in one day

what happens to someone who uses the pen and does not need it? Is there a bad reaction? I thought the pen was adrenaline? I don't really know much about this as I am not allergic to bee stings. To tell you the truth when I was a kid my younger brother and I used to catch honey bees in plastic cups for fun. We grew up on an apple orchard so we had beehives all over the place during the blossom time. Both of us must have been stung at least 20 times when we were doing this, and now both of us are about the same, we are practically imune to bee stings, they swell up and go down within minutes just like a mosquito bite.

I once stuck an Epi-Pen in my thumb (long story). Nothing much happened. I got a little bit of an adrenaline rush.
The Epi-Pen contains epinephrine which is an artificial adrenaline. Read about it here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epinephrine
It can have harmful effects like heart palpations or worse. But, I believe there is not enough in an Epi-Pen to have any adverse effect on a healthy adult. If you have a heart defect or disease, different story.
The key with an Epi-Pen is to use the thing right away and not wait until you go into anaphalatic shock.

thanks for the info, now I know. My best friends dad has severe alergic reactions to bee stings, all I know is that since we were children we had to always make sure we knew where the pen was incase he was stung and was unable to get to it. Really no big deal, just had to know.

I never got stung by a bee, but several years ago while playing golf in Arizona, I got bit by a rattle snake. After several hours of incredible pain, the snake finally died ...

Note that there are epi-pens for adults and kids and also a double dose (double ended) version for those with very serious conditions. My sister carries one 'cause of my nephew. They're not cheap and they usually expire within a year.
I saw CRANK the other night (save your money!) and there's a funny scene where the main character is searching for epinephrine.

I was there and I saw it. Like Carlton said she kept playing and infact did play better than all of us. I tried to find some bees to sting me as well but no luck - I played like crap.
