View Full Version : eBay clubs
Hi, couple of my friends have bought golf clubs (iron sets to be exact) off ebay (brand new) and they both say they are impressed by the savings! although you have to pay brokerage and import taxes, it still ends up cheaper than if you buy from Golf Town or another local golf pro shop.
But let me remind you how to win items cheaper on eBay, don't bid until as close to the end of the auction as possible! There is no point bumping the price up of a good when there is lots of time left. You'll just end up in a bidding war with another eBay dummy :) hope this helps!

I have made many purchases from Ebay, and got some great deals. In 2003 I won a TaylorMade 580 brand new for $160 US, sent as gift no duty, even with the currency conversion, I made out like a bandit. The same club was selling for $500 Canadian here. I also bought my 3&5 V-Steel Fairway woods for about $119US each, way below Canadian prices. I buy most of my balls from Ebay as well, you can usually save about $10-$15 a box. Like you where saying you need to be patient, I watch multiple auctions for the same item, and its amazing the price difference. I set a price that I would like to pay and stick with it, takes a while to win one but you don't get suck into paying the big bucks.:nono:
Just thought I share my exp. with Ebay, happy golfing:rofl:

I have seen some good deals on ebay as well but I prefer to deal in person whenever I can, call me old-fashioned.
What many people do not know about Golftown and others is that you can bargain, especially on the higher end clubs.
If you are spending over $500.00, always ask if that's the best price they can offer you and you will be surprised. A few times I have seen them go look at the computer and come back to me with a better deal. I doubt this works on the latest TM R7, because they do not need to discount it to sell it.
The other great place to buy is at the pro shops. At the end of the year pro shops are looking to dump products. Just let them know that when they are prepared to bargain, give you a call. Leave you number or card.
I got my Clevelands at $300.00 below Golftown's price this way. My friend bought a set of X-16 proseries for 50% off, last set. And we both got fitted.
Cheers.

I love buying off the Internet. You have to be really careful nowadays though. There are many fakes floating around, so make sure the seller has a really good feedback rating. Also, be weary of any person selling complete sets (ie. TM driver, woods, irons, putter, and bag). Do NOT buy anything from a seller in China.
