Carlton

All I got to say is WOW! Thanks WestBeach for setting up this year's TGN Ryder Cup event. Smooth sailing (or from what I saw) from check-in to the range to 1st tee and all the way through the 19th hole for lunch for 24 TGNers... that's just HUGE!
Well the marshall incidents was the only hiccup. What a di¢khead!! We won't hold that against ya. Ha!
Big thanks to Ted! Well done!!
PS: My bad, a big thanks goes out to Team East for coming out (not the closet Dan, don't get excited) and the Captains (Swaaain & Racmbs) for all the background work, snazzy shirts and gift pack. Big thanks to Charles for the kick a$$ yardage book; without it, I would have easily doubled my score! Thanks to Wayland for the ride out, else I'd picking potatochip crumbs out of my belly button. To my playing partners, Dan, Andrew and Ryan and his caddie Dayne, thanks for putting up with my pitiful display of golf. Kudos to GL & their wonderful staff sans marshall who needs to be sent out for PR lessons or just get laid. I think he had his hat on too TOIGHT!!
Nice going on the Team West swag Andrew... I think you need to move out to the east side of the GTA for 2007!! :D

Thanks for the kind words Carlton.
As for the marshall incident, please see:

I don't know how he approached you guys but the course takes pace of play very serious especially on weekends.
Note to all, I approached the marshall to warn all Ryder cuppers to pick up the pace (this included our group....just ask my playing partners). Unfortunately, we fell behind from the get go and there were other patrons at the course to think of. I hope this little issue did not taint an otherwise phenomenal great day.
Next year, it'll be on East soil and we'll learn from this inagaural(sp) event. It'll be bigger and better next year for sure. Planning falls to the hands of a East member. :)
Following the theme of this thread, a big Thank You goes out to Samick. For those who don't know, he was the man responsible for getting Team West outffited with the gear we had. I will post pictures of it later.
I also would like to thank Jeff, Scott and Marty (Swaaain, Racmbs, Laxgolf respectively) for their hard work with the pairings and with their roles as captains. I'm sure members from each team appreciates their efforts.
There were a few members who had to drive significant distances to get to the course. Thanks for coming out!
Lets not forget the ladies in the kitchen who managed to feed 24 barbarians within minutes of notice. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to give them notice before I teed off and they did a superb job. I'm sure we can all attest to that.
Of course, a big THANK YOU to Guelph Lakes Golf & Country Club for having us. It's great they would accomodate 24 guys and their passion for golf.
Although, Team East lost, I think I can speak on behalf on them in saying that we are ALL winners today.
Finally, I want to thank our playing partners Jason and Mike (Nobdyhere/Fresh). It's always a pleasure playing with you guys and next time, I'll putt with one hand. ;)

Thanks for the words Westbeach, I do what I can to help out for a fun event and a good time to be had by all.
Like to commend you on a fantastic job done with the event. Definately smooth sailing and well organized. your hard efforts are greatly appreciated.
I would also like to thank the guys driving from afar, you made this a great time. The captains did a commendable job as well organizing the teams.
Thanks for the "Super Mario" pic, and the "silver bullet" (insider with the West Team), I'll get great use out of it......one way or another!:D

Yet another great TGN outing.
A few new faces were welcomed this time and that was a pleasure to see. You would think with the level of membership on this forum we'd easily close a golf course for the day with our outings but some seem timid still. Let me just say that every level of golfer has been represented at every outing and by no means should anyone feel they dont have enough game to partake.
I'd like to extend a huge thankyou to Ted and Andrew for all their efforts setting up team west with some awesome gear. Great work guys.
Thankyou to everyone in my group for tollerating some scary play from me. I know we are all better players than we displayed today. Hopefully next time we can all play our best instead.
Also, whoever set the pins this morning hasnt been laid in years. Next time could someone take care of that, please Dan?
Great to have met you all, I had fun.

It was a great Inaugural event that is for sure.
Great showing by The Bad Guys team West. We will get em next year Easties.
As for the Marshall Incident, he is mightly lucky Scott held me back.
He said to us after finishing #7 I think it was and I quote:
"Guys, I have moved the 3rd group up a hole you have 2 options, pick up the pace or pick up your ball."
Now we waited 5 mins on the 7th tee before we could tee off, played the hole, and proceeded to the next tee, where yet again, we hole no where to go. We have waited every shot, every hole, where the *%$# do you expect us to go. Needless to say I was very irrate. My 4 some can attest to this.
Now as someone who has been/trained marshalls for several years now, the way to properly handle this is as follows:
Gentleman, guys, I have asked the group a group ahead of you to move up to close the gap they have cause, we ask that you please work to close this gap that has opened up.
Which by the way we did in 3 holes.
Needles to say, I am still pretty upset about this incident.

We were told to skip hole nine. Could have meant points in the match and Mr Momentum on someones side.

I say the pin placements today could pretty much set by the marshal this morning. Such a poor fellow.:(
Also, whoever set the pins this morning hasnt been laid in years.
I too would like to express my thank you to Ted, Jeff and Scott for putting this event togather. And also to all who participated. I'm sure we all had a great time, and sure we will all be looking forward to this event next year.:)

Ted, Marty, Scott and Swaain!
Thanks for all the hard work. It was a great day.
If in fact it is on the east side next year, I do offer my services in helping to put this together, if not taking over Ted's role as 'chief organizer'

Big thanks to Ted for putting the TGN Ryder Cup together. I'm sure it's going to turn into an annual event! And nice work by both sides putting togeter matching uniforms (Thanks Sammick for suiting up team WEST!) - the East team even had custom yardage books made up (not that it helped them - zing)
This was my first "tournament" golf so to speak - teeing it up against a couple golfers I'd never met. Turned out to be a really fun day - not overly competitive and both sides seemed to be routing for each other (I was only trying to hex 2manybuds once I swear :hush: ). I hope all the other groups had a similar experience and as much fun as we did. Already looking forward to defending the CUP.
p.s. Who new Golfinggino was such a stick? Nice round!

Glad to hear the TGN Ryder Cup was a great success. Sounds like everyone had fun and next years event will be hard to top off. Since I was unable to enter for this years event, how does one get in for next years? Do we have to qualify? :D Alternates list? Thanks Swain, Racmbs and everyone else who helped organize the event. Well done!
