$62 USD for shipping? That's why I hate ebay. It's become an uncontrolled joke. People are just trying to rip everyone off left right and centre on shipping fees.
Ebay should think of some way to institute a policy or allow people to leave feedback after about the shipping charges.

Wasnt there some sort of "combined shipping" for multiple items from one seller??
Thats what usually happens.....

ebay should regulate the feedback program as the seller has to leave the feedback before the buyer or even have ebay have an automated system to regulate it. They leave a positive when payment is made and the seller can input the tracking number when the item ships. Leave it out of the individuals hands to do with it what they want.
Many times people recieve negative ratings because they leave a negative rating. Its all BS. I just bid and pay.

If the auction clearly states the shipping cost, regardless of whether or not you get discounted shipping on multiple items, I don't see a problem. Ultimately, it is your choice on whether you want to bid on the item or not. If you don't like the shipping price, don't bid on it. It's the seller's perogative on whether he wants to markup the shipping or not. It's a free enterprise, so vote with your wallet.
We all go to Ebay to look for good deals. Even with the crazy shipping prices, I've scored some bargains.

At least you didn't buy a left handed set of clubs with regular flex shafts, and then get sent the wrong model, right handed and stiff flex.
These guys are wretchedly slow at returning emails too. I am going to call them tonight to deal with this, otherwise i'll be opening a dispute up with eBay/Paypal. One would think a store with 6000+ positive feedback would be good about dealing with stuff like this?

Dan you could have driven there and picked the shoes up for $62US
I get a laugh out of ebay sellers who want $15 to mail a headcover to Canada. I once had a headcover come from YES USA, in a brown envelope, $3.25 US postage. Yet someone on ebay wants $15??
Or how about the sellers that will USPS to US for $5.95, but to Canada the same item is $15.95. Do they think we fell of a turnip truck up here?
I bought a blood pressure monitor off a guy in BC. One of those submit best offer sales. Starting price was $50US plus $20 US for parcel post. I submitted an offer of $50 US shipped and stated there was no way it would cost him $20 US to ship that item by parcel post. Offer accepted, item arrived, postage on the box was $8. and change.
Some sellers are total ripoffs, some are good when it comes to shipping.

I actually called the seller and said that exact thing. $62 buys a lot of gas and they were in michigan.
There was no way to calculate the combined shipping on my items. There was an option to have it sent overnight via UPS for $160.
Bombsquadgolf on ebay is bad for over charging aswell. Flat rate to canada is......... $35 even for a headcover.

I sent my seller 5 messages and 5 emails without response. You can get the contact info of the seller and contact them on the phone aswell. I would open up a paypal dispute right away Nathan. They may make you send the clubs back then they will finally send you the lefty ones.

Items arrive 4 weeks later and werent even shipped until the 29th of August (2 weeks after I paid via paypal) The shipping options for Canada in the listing were UPS Standard, UPS Express and USPS Airmail Parcel Post. Since you know the actual postage, I assume they were shipped USPS Airmail, where the quoted shipping charge on each auction was $24. IMHO that is not unreasonable.
If you want combined shipping for multiple items, you should ask for an estimate BEFORE you bid on the second (or third) item. If your estimate was $62 and you bid anyway, then you have no right to complain. If you did not get an estimate, then you are at the seller's mercy and they could have charged you whatever they want up $72. While I agree that $62 is too high, its kinda late to complain about it 4 weeks later.
OTOH, there is no excuse for them waiting two weeks to ship. Shipping via courier should be next day, and add 1-2 days to that for shlepping down to the Post Office for delivery by USPS. But then international delivery in 4 weeks by Parcel Post is not too bad either. It can take a week just to clear Customs if they're backlogged.

I guess I dont feel bad...........just got my new 3 wood delivered.
I already paid 20USD for shipping......and just then UPS wanted another $40 for brokerage fee!!!!!!! I dont think the guy appreciated me telling him to go back to UPS and tell them what kind of a friggin rip off they are pulling off.
The value on the box said $61.08.........a few weeks ago I had another item that was worth $100 and I only paid $10 for brokerage......what the hell is going on here???

Flat fee shipping charges are a bit of a Catch-22 situation, especially for sales within Canada and ESPECIALLY when shipping from BC.
On the one hand, you want to have a flat fee, because it encourages bids and offers when buyers know in advance what the shipping charge is. OTOH, you don't know where the winning bid will come from - and in Canada the range of shipping costs is pretty large. As a seller you can't suddenly charge double your "shipping in Canada" price because the winning bidder happens to live in Goose Bay, Labrador.
For that reason, you can't really compare the actual postage paid for an auction that listed a flat fee for shipping. On my Ebay auctions I generally charge US$20 to ship a club in Canada - it will be less than that in Ontario/Quebec but I've also paid a lot more than that to ship to Newfoundland or BC. Strangely enough, nobody ever offers to pay more money to cover the actual cost of shipping.
Or how about the sellers that will USPS to US for $5.95, but to Canada the same item is $15.95. Do they think we fell of a turnip truck up here? You can't compare the two countries. USPS is so cheap in the US that it is ridiculous, and of course Canada Post is out to make a profit so they charge whatever they can get away with.

Its stated that they do combine shipping. The actual postage on the package was $23.
I did email the seller before the second and third auction (they were on two different days) without response. I didnt get a single response to any of the emails or messages I sent, I had to call the seller to find out about the package. Their feedback was ok when I won the items and then they got a ton of negatives right after.
Either way, $112 CDN for three pairs of shoes is a steal, would have been even better if I paid actual postage instead of $40 for glory.

Never use UPS Ground. They screw us on the receiving end. If the seller insists on UPS - have them use expedited service - it includes the broker fee in the shipping cost (A lot less than $40).
I've been burned more than once - I will never buy anything from the USA if the seller is going to use UPS ground.

I did not fall off a turnip truck yesterday. There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between $20 US and $8 CANADIAN. So tell me how that is calculated? I know, it's not. It's a money grab by sellers, plain and simple.
As for rates difference between USA and Canada. I know that fact. What I stated was: An item is shipped within USA for $5.95 US via USPS. Yet the same item shipped to Canada from USA is listed at $15.95? When said parcel arrives you might notice the actual postage was $7.95 US, so a nice extra profit of $8 US for the seller.
RIP OFF
Although I have not sold on Ebay, I have sold ham radio gear on the On Air and internet swap listings. People who bought off me paid ACTUAL SHIPPING CHARGES. nothing more. Box the item up, take it to the post office, find out the shipping costs. Contact buyer and tell him how much for shipping, MO arrives, item is shipped. Pretty simple process for those of us who do not want to rip off buyers with high shipping costs.

You too, huh? :D
I've picked up a number of pairs of Tommy Bahama golf shoes on Ebay that look too nice to wear.
As an ebay junkie I just grin and bear the shipping though I do avoid silly shipping if it's posted. Basically, I find it much cheaper to use ebay than Golftown though they make a good buck off me as well.
One thought though, I prefer to have things shipped by USPS as I find Canada Customs often fails to charge on mail deliveries but almost always charges on courier shipments. USPS does take longer of course.
Picked up a Puttgolf putting green on ebay for $195 US, two massive boxes shipped to NF, NY with no shipping charge. Sweet.

My opinion and I hope I'm wrong is that I think many online US sellers would rather not ship to Canada so they charge really high shipping fees to discourage. Also Ebay does not get the seller always what they want in terms of value so they charge high amounts in shipping to offset. I don't like it either, it really makes me think twice about bidding.

I think they (sellers) see it as a hassle, because people complain about the customs/brokerage fees which really have nothing to do with the seller.
I sold a putter last year to a guy in the US and he complained to me about getting charged customs fees. He demanded I pay that on his behalf. I told him that it had nothing to do with me and if he was unhappy to take it up with customs. I also had put in the ad that the buyer was responsible for their own customs fees.

There is more paperwork to fill out when shipping cross-border. I'd estimate it takes almost twice as long to process a single shipment.

They have to declare the value, we do the same when shipping to the states. The person at the post office asks what it is and how much its worth then THEY fill it out for you.....

I did not fall off a turnip truck yesterday. There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between $20 US and $8 CANADIAN. So tell me how that is calculated? I know, it's not. It's a money grab by sellers, plain and simple. I list a club on Ebay with a shipping charge of US$20.
If you win my auction, my actual shipping cost to you might be CDN$15. Does that mean I'm ripping you off? NO - because if someone in Goose Bay or Yellowknife wins the auction (both have happened to me BTW), my shipping cost will be over CDN$40 and I can't charge them for the extra cost because I set a flat fee. And I live in Ontario, where the range in shipping costs is the smallest. If I lived in Vancouver and had to ship that club to Goose Bay, it would cost me a small fortune. The thing is, I don't how much the shipping cost will be until the auction is over - and by then it is too late.
Of course, I could just say that shipping charges will be calculated after the auction. But then I'll get a lot fewer bids, and 20 people will email me for shipping quotes (most of whom don't bid on my item) - and then the winner in Goose Bay who didn't ask for a quote will complain that the shipping charge is outrageous and refuse to pay!

This is why TGN is my new favorite golf buy/sell!!! Even if i sell something for a little less or buy somehting for a little more, there is a lot less hassel...
Ebay is a scam, these guys are trying to recoop the money they get hit with for selling fee's and paypal/money transfer fees. and i dont blame them... I.e Buckweed and Cleetus from down in alabama sell you 200$ worth of goods (there cost on the new goods may be hmm 170$).. ebay takes about 10-15 for listing and selling fee. Then chances are paypal is used to pay which ebay umm owns and they charge another 4-5 bucks.. which leaves buckweed with a net profit of about 10$ ...
The reason ebay doesn't take action again regulating shipping costs, is because they are fully aware that people are making up there losses via shipping. If they regulated shipping costs with the major north american delivery companies, then they would lose a lot of business. people wouldn't waste there time listing and selling to make 5$ on a 200$ item.

I have two different experience recently:
- Bought from Ottawa seller, clubs got delivered next day. No shipping charge.
- Bought from the US, paid $30 USD for shipping USPS. Got charge an extra $28 CAD for duties and handling. Clubs arrived 1 week later (which is good, but in comparison to my previous experience, not so good).
Moral of the story: Buy domestic
Also....
A couple of months ago, I read in some business publications that due to the proliferation of online shopping and popularity of eBay, Canada Post is having a resurgent. Experienced users had learned over time that shipping through USPS or Canada Post for most purchases are the most economical and hustle-free method of shipping. Even the main couriers are outsourcing rural deliveries to the post offices.
In general, couriers are good for businesses, USPS/Canada Post is good for residential/non-major center areas.
