This past weekend featured the World Golf Championships and on the PGA Tour was the Southern Farm Bureau Classic. Obviously the WGC got the spotlight since it featured the top players in the world. The question is, as a player on the PGA Tour playing the SFBC would you be proud to win a tournament with such a weakened field? Just look at the leaderboard and you'll maybe recognize a few names but most likely not. Fred Funk was the winner but it was his 1st win in 6 years!! Was it because he actually played a great tournament or because he was playing with 75 other so so players? I'm happy for Funk but would you be proud? Take away the factors of the huge prize money and the fact that Funk is 50+.

A win is a win...should be proud for still being able to win a tournament against players in the PGA tour for a 50+ ol' geezer.......
BUT.....he should be able to acknowledge the fact that it was a much easier win because none of the top 50 players in the world were there....it's almost a given that if any of the top 50 were there, the winner probably would not be Funk.....I always notice that Funk is on the leaderboard only when the field is weak......
Another topic is Funk......he was a total sellout back in the Open Championship, when he decided to skip that major and play in some backwater PGA tournament in Vancouver just to gain some Ryder Cup points.....he took a lot of flack from his peers for that one!
A win is a win and for Funk, it's the prize money that counts I believe! I'm sure he knows that he would not have won if it was not for the WCG...He should still be proud because he is still a great golfer nonetheless.
