Greetings ...

David Duval, currently 172nd on the Money List thru 10-22-06 (http://frankosport.us/golf/Scores06/PGAMoneyList061022.htm), is not in this week's Chrysler-Tampa Bay field (http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/r475/field).

As a result, Duval will begin preparations for the 2007 season, during which he will be using a Top 25 Career Earnings Exemption.

Have you wondered how David might play the 2007 season if the Top 25 exemption was not available, or if he were to make the bold choice not to use it? Here's a rundown --

A: Exempt as a Past Champion of the following --
Walt Disney-Funai (thru 1997)
Houston (thru 1998)
Bob Hope (thru 1999)
BellSouth Atlanta (thru 1999)
British Open (to age 65)

Some events that Duval won (Kingsmill, Buick-Southern, Tucson as of 2007) do not exist anymore. The 1999 Players Championship victory exemption lasted only 5 years, due to changes in Past Champion rules in 1998.

Duval gets no consideration of any kind for having won 10-or-more PGA Tour events (has 13 overall). That's true of a lot of players with at least 10 but less than 20 career wins. Ahhh, yet another PGA Tour wonder-blunder!

B: Exempt for Pebble Beach AT&T Pro-AM as a pre-2000 Players Championship winner.

C: Sponsor Invitations -- can freely accept as many as are offered

D: Exemption Category 30 (http://www.pgatour.com/players/pgatour-exempt) - Past PGA Tour event Champions, Past Team Event winners and Veteran Members beyond the 150th position on the 2006 Official Money List.
