That effort probably ranks below an 8.5.

Greetings ...
Well, if Davis keeps up his present "Pace", I guess last-place earnings of $108,000 (give or take) would not be too bad a consolation prize for 4 days work.
But hey, it's only the first round - DL3 just might surprise us all.
On a more serious note, I'm disappointed by the first-round play of Trevor Immelman, Lucas Glover and Luke Donald, even if they are only 5 back at this point.
Brett Quigley (+1, 3 off lead) has put together one of the better seasons among those who have not recorded a win. If his play picks up, "Q" may be the man to watch.

That would be a HUGE surprise if he won at this point. :D

Not sure if anyone watched Golf Central last night and caught the post round interview with Tom Penice Jr.
He essentially said that in the FedEx Cup playoff, the field should be cut back gradually, rather than remain at 144 throughout the playoff tournaments as outlined by the PGA Tour office.
He also said that Tim Finchem works for the players, and not the other way around. He continued on to essentially call Finchem 'a staff' by saying 'our staff should listen to what we have to say before making any decision'.
While it was Tiger who really drove the golf renaissance the last 10 years, Finchem might have delusionally thought that he was the driving force and gotten a big head.

Because Ames had committed, he received the 30th place

The 28th and 29th place prizes (total of $211,900) were
re-distributed among the 2nd thru 12th places.

Apparently the PGA front office finally came up with a change that resembles remarkably like what Tom Pernice's talked about in the TGC interview....The FedEx Cup play off series will now have a gradual reduction in the # of players in the field in the 4 or 5 events that constitute the playoff...
This change happened after a Pernice took some pretty harsh criticism from some prominent media types - especially those from TGC - like Steve Dumeg in Grey Goose 19th Hole....
