Just got back from hitting up my first driving range of the season. 8 bucks for a large bucket, 12 bucks for a super. It wasn't busy at all, mind you it was around 1pm :) Grass tees were unavailable, meh - saves me my tees anyway :p Did pretty good, considering I haven't swung a club since last September. It's on 14th Avenue, East of McCowan, and West of Markham Road, in Markham, of course :p Pretty decent, but that's my opinion. Anyone else know of cheap driving ranges?

Unionville GC is has their grass range open. I wouldn't exactly call it grass tho. I call it good practice from the rough. :D

Any ranges in the city actually have grass? I hate hitting off carpet. Also, know of any that have targets (sandtraps, greens, etc) instead of just hitting into an open field? Thanks

Doesn't anyone else think that it's a ripoff buying 2 buckets of balls to hit at a range when you can get on a course at twilight for probably the same cost?

for sure...but depends how you use those buckets, some people take their sweet time with a small bucket...some people hit a jumbo in 30 mins...

Beach Fairways on Victoria Park, south of Danforth has real grass... but you have to walk to the other end of the range and hit back towards to the artificial tee boxes. One downside is that you are not allowed to hit a Driver from the grass. Also, they are not open yet.... they have had some problems with their poles and nets. They hope to open by the end of May.... Check it out at :

Angus Glen has a great range with greens. Also has a great putting green and chipping green. Unfortunately, if you're only there for the range, its not open until after 2pm. If you pay for a green fee or have lessons there, the range if free.
Cardinal west of Newmarket has a good range too with targets.

I came across a very good practice facility in the West End called Vic Hadfield's Practice Range. It is on the corner of Trafalgar and Burnhamthorpe at the edge of Mississauga & Oakville.
$7 for 72 balls - $5 for 45 and $9 for 105 balls - They also have a short game area with target greens at 50 - 75 & 100 yards as well as three bunker to hit out of. Two putting greens and one chipping green.
4 grass tee areas and 2 with mats. They alterrnate the grass tee areas so there is alway "grass" to hit off of, not dirt. There is even a hockey style mini-putt, to give the kids something to do while you hit balls.

Ok everybody. Time to share the best deal I've seen (other than Grass Root's $200 membership to Paris Grand which I would jump on if I lived anywhere near there). This range called Golden Ridge Golf, located at Stouville Rd. and the 404 has a special for their value card. $99 taxes included gets you 10 jumbos, but these jumbos are true jumbo's at 120 balls. Grass tees and mats available as well as a practice bunker and green. Mini-golf if that's your thing. Thus, much better than the $16 you pay for 100 balls at the Markham Dome. The balls are all in decent condition and the mats are level and good to hit off of.

Yep, I like that place too. Nice and new. Also, they send out coupons in those 'metrosaver' or 'bonuspak' flyer envelopes -- I open them just for their coupons. There is a 'buy one bucket, get one free' coupon

nope. i think there's something about practicing drills that can really improve your game, or at least from my experience.
