Hello all. I was at the driving range today. I was hitting balls and the matt to my left and to my right were un-occupied. So two guys naturally came rushing over to take adavantage of such a situation on a beautiful day. The guy to the left of me settles in and starts hitting some shots, but the guy going to the right of me decides he'll walk across the back of my matt to get to his. Actually walked across my matt. So I back away and say " Almost got you" he laughs and shrugs his shoulders. Very little idea what has just happend. Without a word of a lie, after he hit two or three shots, he walks back across my matt again to talk with his pal. This time I say " Man almost got you again" this time he realizes that he wasnt the only person at the range today, and says to me " Oh sorry about that" with an expression on his face that led me to believe he felt he was in the right and I was in the wrong. " Oh sorry about that" Hit it straight. Bye for now. Your comments please.

Sounds like he's probably a beginner.
Next time if something like that happens you should ask the guy if he wants to trade mats. No sense in having him distract you by walking behind you every 2 minutes. Or shouting over you to talk to his friend.

Hit him with your back swing! Some people require help with the learning curve.

It is sad, but sometimes people only learn through physical injury...

Early this week I went to a local driving range that was very busy, so there was only one mat open. Because it is early in the year, the grass tees are not available so everyone is supposed to hit from the mats. Well, I soon found out why this mat was open. The guy beside me was hitting from the grass a couple of yards behind his mat.
Okay, it was clear after a couple of shots that he was an experienced golfer who knew how to hit a golf ball. But pounding golf balls with your driver 6 feet to the right and 6 feet BEHIND the guy next to you is OBVIOUSLY dangerous no matter how good you are. After about 30 balls where I basically stared at him waiting to hit before every shot, he finally got the message and picked up the rest of his bucket and headed to the chipped green.
The things some people do at the driving range simply amazes me...

It seems to me you should have "said" something to him so he would move.

I would have kept on swinging after the first time! I agree some people just dont get it! Maybe a three iron to the temple would have clued him in!!!!!!!!!!!
