An easy topic to say "every part" to, but if you had to choose one part of
your game you'd like to improve upon what would it be (poll) and maybe how do
you plan on doing so (reply).
I guess I forgot fairway woods/hybrids...sorry.

Putting would without a doubt be first on my list... Damn you gotta put the ball in the hole. Unless you can hit your long or short irons within 5 feet from the pin at all times, it has to be putting.
If I had a close second it would definitley be my short irons... 8 iron and down...

chipping for me. I've battled the chipping yips for most of this year. When I'm chipping well I've shot mid 70's low 80's . when I'm not, well.....
I'm gonna practice my chipping all winter long.

Improved chipping and long putting to get the ball within one putt range would help my score the best.

I've been operating on the following game plan for the past 2 years.
Off the tee: Anywhere in the fairway is good
Approach: Anywhere on the green in good
1st putt: Anywhere near the hole is good.
Par
I've managed to get my Fairways in Regulation percentage to about 70%
I've managed to get my Greens in Regulation percentage to about 60%
Seeing as my handicap is 12, and my putts per round is about 36, clearly improved putting is what will lower my score.

I voted 'long/mid irons', but after that it would definitely be putting and then chipping. I just started golfing last season though, so I REALLY am one of those people who DOES need improvement in ALL areas! :)

I voted mid/long irons too. Statistically that is where I need the most improvement. Realistically I could stand to improve everywhere.

Short game for sure. If my short game was even close to where it was in junior golf I'd be much happier and scoring very well.

Yea me too, sort of. It' not so much the distance as much as inconsistent directional play. 4-5 irons I tend to push to the right and 6-7 I pull to the left... not too much, but enough to barely hit side of green, or just miss it.
It's a good thing I'm good at chipping, and putting is the best part of my game, so my score stays low.

Chipping -I thought I had it,but it still needs more work. It's going to be my winter project.

For me, the short game was hurting big time this year. Not enough GIRs.
Everytime I did get a GIR though, it was almost always was a birdie or par.

Definitely need to focus on accuracy off the tee this coming season....hit it far enough, but need some more fairways to improve on overall scoring. Made some improvement in my short game in 2006.

I've never put much thought into hitting my driver, and it definitely shows. I am absolutely brutal with this club. The only way I'll use one next near is if I can gather up the dough for some lessons.

chipping/short game for sure. Too inconsistent and throw away too many shots here. This usually comes from not playing enough.
that being said, I found the last few times out, my short irons were letting me down.

If i only had to pick one it has to be putting but towards the end of the season my putting has made big improvements down to an avg of 35 from 38. So i'm getting there and my second choice is the short game chipping/pitching i think i just need more repetitions at the range hitting various short distances.
One thing that really helped me this year that i recommend to people in the 20+ handicap is to learn course management (focal method). That seriously worked for me bring my HDCP from 20 to a 15. That would be great place to start shaving strokes.
Happy Holidays see ya on the course next season.

Something that worked for me when i had huge slice with my driver was:
1) Get my driver properly fitted
2) Stop swinging for the fences!! Learn control before distance. (seek a pros help for sure)
I'm sure following these steps will lead to a better more consistant driver.

My biggest problem is accuracy with the big stick. I tend to push some and low pull hook others. My fairways hit is around 7 per round. My short game and recovery shots keep my score respectable. I'm hoping a change in driver for the spring will help with the accuracy problem. Otherwise, it's back to my instructor.
