It will be a long spring at some west end private clubs. Or a short one if you consider how much play will be happening. Lots of winter damage to greens. St. George's opening this week with possibly 4 temp greens, Lambton maybe only two temps, but brown fairways, Mississaugua no scheduled date to open, Credit Valley under water in spots. The list goes on. I know I missed some. Mother nature never loses or even ties, she always wins. The newer private clubs seem to be opening relatively unharmed due to the fact they are mostly bent grass. Hope you chip in alot this year. Bye for now.

Toronto Golf is in fine shape right now - that being the short course. The full 18 opened last weekend and looked right IMHO. I did not play it so I am not sure of a few holes, but from what I understand all the greens are in good shape and there are just trying to get some water on the course.

As for the others you mentioned, I would be very surprised if the membership is up in arms since it is April 18th. Most of the courses never open until the beginning of May anyway so the membership will just be getting a bonus this year of nice April golf.

Hi Mike not sure where you are getting your opening dates from. Members are always up in arms when their greens are poor. Any private clubs I know of always open in April. Usually Mid to late.

If I remember correclty for the last 5 years I have seen Rosedale open at the end of April beginning of May. Sorry I was off by a week or so, and from what I understand this is one of the earliest openings for Toronto in a very long time.

Yes Members would be up in arms when the greens do not survive the winter. I would be also, but I would be more pissed when they are crap in June, not April.

Mississuga will have 9 hole open today and the remainder of the course this weekend. I did believe that this was an early opening, but that is like many things in people lives, a grey memory sometimes of what happened a year ago.

Toronto's opening date was straight from a members mouth when I was there over the last 2 weeks.

Rosedale I also noticed probably just opened but I have not looked out my back door to see the course this week.

Weston was also damaged, and will not open until next week, and even then with a few temporary greens. Last year the course was open on Apr 13. So it's been a bummer that it's not open yet.

Islington has 2 temp greens, opened this week. Maybe Mother Nature was mad just at private clubs. Royal Ontario opened at least 10 days ago. Greens were great no damage anywhere, fairways with no drainage problems and nice and green.

Hey Mike I work at a Private Track. So like i said first hand experience.:nono: The comments were pretty much bang on. 9 holes doesn't constitute an opening does it? What is your index anyway? Sounds low.:D

No 9 holes does not constitute an opening, but neither does a saying "Mississaugua no scheduled date to open."

Both of our comments are actually correct since we actual both know what is going on.
