It seems fitting that I'll post this here since the forums have been slow lately and I'm also really excited about it.

My best friend is getting married in June to his high school sweetheart. We all went to high school together, in fact, I've known her a little longer then him. We're all 26, turning 27 this year. He naturally asked me to be his best man.

Aside from organizing any wedding party events, the stag and doe, etc... For the past couple of months I have been researching possible trips or golf trips he and I could go on. Anyone familiar with the movie Sideways would know what I'm talking about. (In the movie, two friends head out on a wine tour/tasting trip in Northern California a couple weeks before the one friend is about to get married.) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375063/

My buddy and I have also said that we'll do something like that when the time comes. And this is where TGN comes in. After joining this site, I saw the many postings regarding Myrtle Beach and after shopping some prices and packages around, I found that www.eatdrinksleepgolf.com (http://www.eatdrinksleepgolf.com) was the best I could find thanks to this site.

Just before Christmas I purchased a 4 round (+1 free round), 5 night stay in Myrtle Beach for myself and my best friend. It's planned to be my "wedding present" to him and sort of a psuedo bachlor party thing. Of course I'll be throwing the typical "gong show" bachlor party before the wedding, but this is something for just him and I. (What happens in Myrtle Beach stays in Myrtle Beach?)

We're heading down on February 1st...driving...and we're staying at the Holiday Inn West on the Waterway. We're playing TPC, Legends Heritage, Oyster Bay, Legends Parkland and Legends Moorland.

From reading on here and other sites, they may not be the greatest courses, but I'm just happy because a) we'll be playing in February in somewhat decent weather (hopefully), b) we have never played at Myrtle Beach before and c) since I'm paying the whole price for him and I, I needed to draw the line somewhere. :D

Anyway, thanks to TGN and EDSGolf because I'm sure without you I would never be doing this. I look forward to finding more great things and ideas on TGN and hopefully this year I'll actually play with some of you. :thumbs_up

and if you want a FANTASTIC meal (we went on our final night in November),
check out Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse (across from Broadway on the Beach on the Planet Hollywood-side)...much better than T-Bonz or Longhorn!!;)

For that 'sideways' moment, (a time to talk with your buddy), take an early morning long walk on the beach. It is an wonderful beach.

Enjoy.

As far as steak places go, you can't go wrong at Damon's!
