View Full Version : Custom Club Fitting and Repair - Sponsorship
Fore The Golfer
Jan 12, 2007, 02:52 PM
As you are aware, a decision has been made by TGN to offer exclusive sponsorship for club fitting on their site. While I am disappointed in this decision, I respect the right of TGN to take this course of action.
I want to thank all TGN visitors for your past support of “Fore the Golfer” and advise that we continue to be available to meet all of your custom fitting and repair work in the future and will also continue to provide you with sound advice and support for all your equipment needs.
I will continue to be active on TGN and if circumstances change in the future, I look forward to returning as a sponsor at TGN.

Jeff, as I am new here, I don't know how long you have been sponsoring this site, but the guys here seem to respect your advice as being very sound.
I am dissapointed in the decision (by the forum management electing to have a single Fitting Sponsor), but what you are doing is what I would do as well - say thanks & step back.
I know your true supporters will continue to back you, and for good reason.
I had E-mailed you last week about your credentials, and my suggestion to you is to get them posted to your site. Professional status is something that needs to be visible and not just as a statement.
As a professional as well I'm sure you can understand why I asked,
Too many people make claims, but do not have certificates too back them up.
I very much am a supporter of the qualified, and will have no hesitation sending someone your way if they are looking for a Professional Assembler or fitter from your area.
I hope to pop in to see you some day when in your area. I do travel that way for business on occation.
My best to your continued success.

My only point was that they do not seem to be visible on Jeffs web site (unless I missed them), and with the computer world the way it is - the visibility needs to be there as well. I think this is just is just as important.
I respect those that have earned their place - Jeff is one of those.

i know that jeff shuster is a master clubfitter, but i don't know what that means. i'm sure if i call and ask (actually i will), or even ask on this forum, someone will explain it to me. everything i hear about the guy sounds good.
so when i read dan's remarks earlier, about having the credentials clearly stated, i could not agree more. for me that is very important starting point.

Jeff has been awesome. He's very honest and very helpful when it comes to clubfitting and has done a lot for me. Without a doubt he has gained a loyal following here which I'm sure won't hesitate to continue going to him or recommending him to others after his sponsorship ends here. Thanks Jeff for everything and see you soon. :)

Oh my God, I feel soooo sorry.
NOT. This thread looks like a severe case of foul loser syndrome.
My take is, the management of TGN opted to put a price tag on the luxury of being the sole sponsor for custom club fitting and repair.
Somebody stepped up to the plate and forked out the money.
Others did not.
So, shut up and stop whinning. How does the old saying go? You snooze, you lose.
Who cares about certificates hanging on a wall. I'm sure the management of TGN didn't take the money from a hack. That would only harm their own business.

This is your opinion and you are entitled to it.
Jeff Shuster has been a great supporter and contributor to TGN.
I appreciate that he is taking the time to thank his supporters and clarify his position. I don't sense any sour grapes or whining in his post. Pure Class Jeff.

I agree with you on this Pingnut, There didn't seem to be any sour grapes in Jeff's post.
Maybe we were reading it wrong and Haribo read it right.;)
At any rate Good luck Jeff. I haven't used your services but from what I hear
you are a stand up guy.

This is upsetting,
My only intended point was that I supported Jeff in his decision. I felt that having his credentials posted to his site would benifit him, as many do look for this when searching for a qaulified tech.
Sorry Jeff

I gather Swank Golf is the exclusive advertised club fitter for this site now?
BTW, I just noticed that ClublLink is now a sponsor. Does that mean we can not criticize Clublink moving forward? (Not that they need to, I think J.Linberg is doing a rather good job defending Clublink).

This is funny. Fore the Golfer is no longer a sponsor on this site, but this posting is probably the best piece of advertising he's ever had! BRILLIANT!
It's true, exclusive sponsorship's not going to guarantee the biz of this site. Most people are loyal to their clubfitter, sorta like how you'd stay with your hair stylist. I've been to 'em all and I'm with Pure Golf in the Markham Golf Dome 'cause the location is convenient for me, their work is awesome, and they always make you feel at home.

Perhaps I am misinterpreting this post, however, I feel I need to clarify one thing for those not in the know.
TGN did not give any of the current sponsors an opportunity to step up to the plate.
We were not made aware of the option to be exclusive. We were simply notified that we are no longer welcome as sponsors of this site.
I have found this to be a great community with which to share knowledge and my passion for the game.
I would have certainly stepped up to acquire those rights, had I been offered the chance!

Very strange IMO. I think the secrecy of all this would have been unecessary. It would have been fair to give equal opportunity to all sponsors. Not giving all sponsors a chance to tender an agreement is giving preference before an exclusive agreement is signed. Not a good way to be treated.

Wow;
Class move by Jeff with exception of adding the hidden "lurkers attack this post" message somewhere in the original post...........
All the best Jeff, looks like I will be dropping in sometime in the near future. Perhaps to say hi, perhaps more. You just never know.

Perhaps the move was initiated by Swank Golf. That would explain why there wasn't an open offer to all who wished to bid for the exclusivity rights.

Having had a set of irons done by for the golfer i can attest to jeffs passion. Called him for a fitting session it quickly turned into a lesson which was necessary to do the proper fitting session. no complaints , did what he had to do for what he saw as a fellow golfer trying to get the most from what is a tough enough game.
Thanks jeff

Well of course we don't know all the facts, but just because the other vendors aproach this site with a good idea about locking all other sponsors out, if they promise so much money, doesn't mean they have to neglect giving those other paying sponsors a chance. If it were me it would make me feel like my past business to the site meant nothing. Thats just me.
