hi guys n gals, i'm Rajieev and i'm a mechanical engineering student in on the universities in Malaysia. One of the subjects i'm taking requires me to design an automatic golf ball teeing machine such as Teego and Optee. i would very much appreciate some input and ideas from u guys for this. suggestions on how to improve on existing designs would be very much appriciated. below is my problem statement:

Designing an Automatic Golf Ball-Teeing Machine

The objective of this project is to design an automatic golf-ball teeing machine. The machine should automatically tee up a ball after a player hits one. This will prevent a golfer from having to bend over after each shot thus breaking his/her concentration, and to reduce back pains for elderly folks. Hence, the project goal is to design a low-cost and a reliable golf-ball teeing device. The device is designed to fit within a typical car trunk and has

( a ) a container to hold balls,

( b ) a linkage mechanism to transport balls from the container to the tee, and

( c ) a means of triggering ball-placement.

If you truly want to make something innovative, figure it out yourself and register your patent. No one should help you with this unless of course you are willing to pay for the help.

hi there golfinseb (http://www.torontogolfnuts.com/member.php?u=851),

i'm not asking for solutions for the problems, i'm asking the golfing community THE PROBLEMS THAT ARE FACED WITH THE EXISTING PRODUCTS IN THE MARKET SO THAT I CAN PROVIDE AND DESIGN SOLUTIONS FOR IT, so u dont need to trouble your mind with it, just tell me the problems faced. i'm just a student trying my best in my project, thats it.

another thing is, i'm trying to improve something, so by copying an existing design i cant improve anything, and of course its against the law.

when i come out with a feasible and efficient design i will patent it.

thanks for your feedback, it is very much appreciated.

please dont take the remarks in some posts to heart,i would try to use some sort of foot operated pedal to tee the ball and maybe a shag bag to hold the balls. other than that imagination will work wonders try the mcgiver thing he could make something from nothing.good luck.

hi nearace,

thanks for the advice, and i also dont intend to offend anyone, hopefully i've not.

what u mean is that you would prefer a foot operated pedal instead of a club activated one like on the teego??

what the storage capacity of balls that u expect in a machine like this??

hahaha..thanks for the mcgiver tip, its a very good inspiration.

thats fine, but if you're going to make a profit from this product why should anyone help you with it without being paid? I don't care if I offend you with this question.

This isn't exactly something that will improve the standards of living for mankind.

Wow, racist much?

Maybe you don't know many engineering students, but I have a few friends that are; it's pretty standard for engineering students to have to design and build something as their thesis project. He's asking for suggestions and flaws....not for somebody to do his project for him. Engineering students aren't expected to be creative geniuses - they're expected to build a final product that is functional and addresses issues with current products.

And where does he mention anything about making money off this project?

the problem i face is that i am left handed!
i have been to ranges where they dont have ANY for left handers and most ranges have 1 bay for lefties.

so solve that cheaply and effectively and you could make a few $ !

the reason they dontoffer better left handed facilities is that its not cost effective!

I think 'seb's just fed up with the weather in Vancouver, LOL!

APEX, I agree with the others, in that you shouldn't pay attention to what is clearly a grumpy day for some.

'seb - you're kiddin' right??? TGN is a pretty defensive and protective group, but I honestly think you crossed a line in your posts above. Do us a favour and delete your posts.

If I had mod like powers you'd be suspended, my friend...

Good luck with your project Apex3016.

Oh, forgot to add my thoughts on your project, the thing I hate about ranges (when using mats) is that you can't adjust the tee height. I assume that all auto teeing machines would also have this problem??

Eh, in all honesty - I hate practice...

My post was edited due to percieved racism. It was not intended to be racist, but could easily be percieved as racist. I am defensive of the Canadian market and intelectual properties, as this is directly connected to our economy. This is was not intended to be racist, I hope you can understand that.

Also I know no mention of profit was made in the initial post, I just jumped to a conclusion seeing as it was his 1st post and there are often hit and run posters on this board.

TO all those I offended, I am sorry.

You may be right, the one I saw didn't so I just figured that applied to all of them???

Thanks for the correction - I still hate practice...

On a purely economic note, I wish far more people were concerned with intellectual property protection in Canada.

Historically, we have been a resource based country that has had relatively few companies that were internationally successful as manufacturers.

We have consistently lagged behind the U.S., Europe, Japan, etc. in recognizing the benefits of intellectual property protection.

Furthermore, we suffer because many of our biggest R&D based companies in this country don't even bother obtaining patent protection in this country.

All quite sad, really.
