April special? It says they won't open until mid-May.

It is a brand new course. I just called. The course is ready they are just finishing off the parking lot and such. They also have a May Special, which for a hour drive is better than driving to Barrie (an hour drive to Tangle Creek).
MAY SPECIAL

18 Holes: Cart $50 per person & walking $40 per person

Their normal prices during the summertime doesn't seem too bad either...with escalating prices on a lot of the courses this year, I think it's time to change to twilight rounds for me

Has anybody actually played this course yet? It's only about 45 minutes from me, so I'd like to play it if it's a decent course.

There is a thread under "Golf Courses" on this forum {Black Diamond in Bethany}that states it is not fit to play on yet. Will be nice when it matures but it sounds like they should not have even opened it yet. Might want to hold off for now. I will be waiting quite awhile before I make the trek over there myself.

Played it this past weekend at a tournament. (very first one of the course). clubhouse isn't built yet, probably another few months. they've got a snack bar, and portopotties still. Most of the greens were pretty good actually. There were a few (maybe 1 or 2) that had some bad streaks from the new grass not taking root. Rough is short, and fairways are a bit long, but not bad overall, (except for all those undulating lies, just tough in certain areas if you aren't comfortable hitting from sloped lies). Still a very pretty course. Open in the front overall. the Back 9 though is tough. You have to know how to shape your shots or play conservatively with some good layups to do fairly well. And at this stage, because it's new, I'm assuming you won't get too many people. It'll be nice to see this course mature though. I can see it being pretty popular eventually.

Played Black Diamond last week. Very disappointed though. The front has potential 8 of the 9 holes were lengthy and nice. The back on the other hand was rediculous....its almost as if they've run out of land, a completely different golf course. Designed terribly, the par fours were short and uphill, the par fives are a joke, 1 out of 9 holes are nice. The sixteenth hole has a tree in the middle of the fairway a hundred yards from the green. The hole is a 330 yard dogleg right. Worst hole I've ever seen. Leave driver in the car for the back nine and grab another wedge.
Unless you have a 2 for 1, don't pay full pop to play at Black Diamond! Trust me you'll be disappointed. The four of us drove over an hour to find out the hard way.

Played on Saturday and I think this course has potential but should not be open yet! - I have putted on fairways and shag rugs that were cut lower!:( Needed a slapshot to move the ball 15'. Also the flags were not there. Every hole was same colour and no little one beneath to tell you pin position. Very frustrating especially on 30 - 40yd greens - that a difference of 3 or 4 clubs! All the rough was burnt from lack of rain and they watered the greens between groups so they wouldn't loose them as well! The place was packed and we didnt go off until 45min after our scheduled tee time! The front and back 9 are like 2 different courses and i much preferred the back as the front is wide open and set against a ridge and the wind just howls through the holes & hardly any place to find shade! Saw a maintenance worker and he said their root system is not deep enough yet - thus the long greens and fairways! I think the course has potential - some holes must be played twice in order to know ball position/placement. Major elevation change throughout the course.
All in all - i don't think i'll be back until it has a chance to grow in - but i do think i will play it again once it matures and becomes better groomed.
