Just wondering what your thoughts are? Do you find it helps your game or does it hurt it? How much do you drink?

For me I've always had at least 2-5 beers a round and I'm not sure if it hurts my game because I've never shot a round without having a few drinks. I'm pretty sure it's affected my game some rounds but how can't you not drink when it's a nice and hot out? :D

There's nothing better than a cold brew when on the course... the only problem I have with it is getting super dehydrated after the round... the temperatures get up to 120 F (too hot Celsius), I keep swigging 'em back without drinking enough water in between and at the end of the day I'm ruined. My game doesn't suffer too much... or does it... I can't really remember.

Ummm, for us here in Huron County beer is apart of the game... For me it HELPS big time, I remember 2 or 3 times, on the front 9 I will shoot 41 or something, be mighty mad, buy a 12 pac for the other 9.... and DRINK THEM ALL, and shoot -2, did that more then once, I guess I just don't care when im drinking

I love to drink when I play. Sometimes I don't drink when I play. I find I shoot the same scores. So drink up and have a good time. Don't drink and drive though.

Hmm, I wish is was warm out, I'd go to the course and getting rocked, I find it more enjoyable than going to bar or club, but alas there are so few women at teh course :)

I've cut back drinking on the course and have found it helps my game.
Sometimes though I'm not so worried about how I play and like to have a few and chillax (it's my word - feel free to use it)

I must say that I've been known to have a few cold ones and "chillax" myself on occation....ok. many occations but if I want to play my best the brew needs to chill till I get to the 19th hole:D.

You are correct about needing a driver, a designated one.

I'm sorry, but someone has to say it -- personally I don't tolerate playing with someone who drinks on the golf course. At all.

It's unavoidable at times, but I can tell you there wouldn't be a second time.

No offence. It's just the way it is.

Your position may be alittle harsh, considering an article in this month's Golf magazine that beer and cigars can make you a better golfer. I, for one, am taking this to heart. I have attached the PDF of the article. Everyone should have a laminated copy in their bags

Wow thats a pretty strong statement....not everyone acts like an idiot when they have a couple beers on the course...In fact after a couple it makes my playing partners games look that much better...:) I'm sorry, but someone has to say it -- personally I don't tolerate playing with someone who drinks on the golf course. I'm not a teetotaler, but I don't drink on the course. I also have no problem playing with someone who has a few beers while out there either. I do have a huge problem with someone who gets legless though. I've played with someone who, when he couldn't find the cart girl, would go to his bag for the "medicine" bottle. By the 12th or so, he could hardly get out of the cart. I excused myself and let the group play ahead. I'm sorry, but I don't find it a very enjoyable situation when your playing partner takes his alignment toward you instead of the green, only because he can't figure out which direction is which.
And I agree with others who brought up the DD. I know I've served as the DD on lots of outings with friends who do drink on the course. Having someone in your group who's blotto and you KNOW he plans to drive home creates a lot of problems, especially when you try to arrange for a ride for him.

I agree, it's no fun to play with drunks.

Though I have played in charity tourneys where everyone ended up loaded, fortunately we rented the course, so we were the only ones out (a small 9 hole course, in the back country). Rides were organized for all, and there was zero tolerance for any vandalism of any sort.

My Dad's a very high handicapper, who gets dragged out onto the course a few times each season. He gets really nervous while on the tee and green. A few swigs of single malt really seem to loosen him up, and let him enjoy the day. My only problem with too much drinking on the course is the actual time it takes to buy every other hole, and shmooze the cart girl.

One beer worked for me... it only got ugly after you and Albert kept feeding me beers at Grey Silo.

Or at least that's my story, and i'm sticking to it!

Seriously though, I don't generally drink on the course. I'll save it for the clubhouse later.

Hey....no one 'forced' you to drink.

And I had at least 3 and still broke eighty and I thought my behaviour was acceptable:cool: One beer worked for me... it only got ugly after you and Albert kept feeding me beers at Grey Silo.

Sub 80 at the Silo with 3 beers in ya is pretty respectable from the tips.

Whats the scoop on the empty golf bag there, GB?
