Well as some of you know, I'm currently looking for a driver to add to my bag. Now I still haven't been to GT to hit any of these new techy drivers but I was wondering if you guys can narrow the field down a bit for me? Maybe like a top 5? The only real new driver I've hit was my friends TM R5 and I was pretty impressed with it. I'm also not looking to break the bank and if I could find a good deal on something used I would rather take that over paying retail for something new.

Thanks,
Brian

Buy a custom fit driver for yourself.
Many of the components out there easily match in quality.
Only difference is that with a Certified builder you get to eliminate pretty much all of the tolerances that won't come out of a 'Pro Shop'.
Get the shaft with the correct profile, floed, with the correct length and Swingweight to match you and your swing.

A custom driver sounds great but right now I would rather save the money and get a decent used driver. Ebay looks like a great place to get great deals on used clubs. But I'm trying to figure out which club is best bag for the buck? Nike SQ? TM R5/R7? ect..

Getting a used driver might be the best way to save yourself some $$. I would also suggest the B/S/T thread on this forum as well. And when you get the driver, have it "fitted" to you and your swing. It may mean a change in shaft, but that's not nearly as expensive as a new OEM driver. My only caution is to be aware of where you're buying the driver from. Not everyone is honest.

Haste,

You may have to change that shaft. My Sister bought one of those and demoed a few and all CMP'ed in the senior flex range. It may work for you but if it doesn't and you have to fork out for a new shaft then you're pretty much where dan and goshawk were saying.I used to think those were good deals too but have since moved on to components because for about $200 I could have a head that specs out to exactly what I need and a shaft that fits my swing style.(plus the fitting of course)

Good luck with your new SQ. Hit it well.

Ryan.

Thanks kimo for your input. I really do understand your guys point about having a fitted club and if the regular shaft on the SQ doesn't work for me then I'll get fitted. But considering I paid $200 for a driver that sells for $399 at GT, I could still reshaft it and grip it for way less (though I am hoping that I can make the driver work for me). Can't wait to go to Launch and try my PING TiSi woods and driver when it arrives. I'll let you guys know how it works out for me. Thanks to all that posted. :)

Like 99.99% of us, I expect that you will hit it great at the range.

Now, when you are out on the course...
