It should be an entertaining contest if it comes down to Sen Obama and Sen Clinton as the frontrunners for the nomination. I'll be voting absentee, and I'm not sure which of the two would get my vote yet.

I think we'd see the first african american president before woman, although Condolezza Rice could get boths firsts.
I wonder when we'll see a minority prime minister? (Obviously I don't mean women in case anyone thought I was)

The time is certainly ripe for change. Either would fit that bill, except Obama has admitted that there needs to be a whole new style of government in place, and Hillary won't bring that. Even though she's a woman, she's still part of the same machine.

Hillary simply cannot win the presidency. She lacks likeability. Zero charisma.

But with Big Willy at her side - who knows??

I'm thinking that's the only reason why "Big Willy" is still living in the house, to be her "backdrop" for the presidency.

My friends in Boston says they can't vote for her. The last time she lived in the White House she couldn't control one lying, cheating, pr..., how is she going to to control a senate full of them.

Hilary may be the candidate, but look who's in her pocket... former President Bill Clinton - one of the most liked Presidents ever. Think that makes a difference at all? I'm sure it will.

Even a better one I heard the other day. If she can't keep Monica out of Bill's pants, how's she going to keep the Republicans out of the White House?

So which would be the more interesting matchup? (1) Clinton vs Rice, or (2) Obama vs Rice? My money's on number 2.

Oh man, Condelisa and Barack could get real interesting. I have to go with that one.

Now for the magical question.....do you think the US public is ready for a presidential race when the only two prime candidates are both black?

If they are not, they want to be. Unfortunately a lot is going to be made of the race, woman, man thing. But I'm hoping the ideology's will win out and the best person gets voted in. It would be a shame to see it any other way.

I'm with you on that one. What I would love to see/hear is a campaign where you don't have any visuals on what the candidates look like, what sex they are, etc. All you'd hear/see are what they have to say about whatever the issues are. Wouldn't that be something? No popularity contest, no racial/sex card to play.

Hillary's announcement cracked me up: I'm in it to win! Duh! I always find it interesting to imagine if the candidate said the opposite of what they actually say. 'I'm not in it to win?
Obama is exciting!

No offensse, but that would be dreaming.
I do not believe the machine nor the US public would want that to happen. Superbowl... maybe, country...No.

I know it's daydreaming (and no offense taken), but wouldn't it be interesting to not be able to see who was running, just to know what their thoughts/plans were and how they stood on all the pertinent subjects?

Definetly !!! It would be nice to see any leader hold true to it's promises to the people/masses. I believe there are people out there who CAN make a difference but sadly cannot, due to the machine.

I don't think Condi is electable - she is seen (and is) a lapdog to the current Pres and his handlers and not even the most ardent Republicans want four more years of this kind of 'administration.' She is also from academia (though not much of an academic), another strike to the core red state voters. Her unquestioning loyalty to the Bush handlers, especially in the runup to the war, makes her as much of a pariah as her boss.
Condi may try in 2012 or later but she couldn't win in '08.
I suspect that Guliani might be their strongest option. Not a favourite of the current powers in the party, but the most electable.

Conodleeza won't run for President for one reason, she has never been elected to public office. Obama's greatest weakness is that he is a first term senator and therefore lacks the experience necessary to be Commander in Chief. Condi doesn't even that. She's obviously intelligent, but there are tons of intelligent people out there.
Frankly, aside from being first lady, Hillary is a relative newcomer to being a an actual political candidate too. Serving less than two terms as New York Senator doesn't really qualify her as a veteran political leader. But, the public seems to view her time in the The White House as equivalent to public service (which is dubious in my view.) Anyway, we won't be seing Condi vs. Hillary OR Condi vs. Obama this time around. More likely a McCain/Giuliani ticket vs. an Obama/Clinton or Obama/Edwards ticket. At least that's what I hope.

The TV show 24 really paths the way for the American public to accept a member of the minority community to be the POTUS.
However, they also are conditioned to suspect someone in the white house staffs is a turncoat, and that anyone of them could get whacked by the terrorists or tortured by Jack Bauer :p .
If Obama wins, I won't be surprised to see Jack Bauer standing behind him in his inaugural speech. :$
On the other note, the only Republican to have a positive public image and have a chance to keep the White house is probably Senator John McCain - not to mentioned he is already used to being tortured when he was imprisoned for 5 years during the 'Nam war.

Ouch!
I wish TV had that kind of influence! But, if it did, the success of The White House should have prevented Bush from being re-elected.:confusen:
