Happy New Year Everyone. I'm a reformed rugby player who took up the game about 5 years ago after 20 years of being smacked around the pitch. Now I'm a golfer, make that golf nut. The only bruises I get now are on my ego. I Joined a CL club and have chipped my handicap down from of 27 to 19. I'm also a recent convert to the One Plane swing and it has yeilded great results for me. so that I'm now breaking 90 consistenly.

Welcome to the forum Dazzla. From my experiance, of being in more than a few scrums in my day, golf is easier on the body but a whole lot harder on the ego.:rofl::rofl:

Hello Dazzla,
Welcome to the board. Glad to have you along for the ride. We all understand fully the bruised ego syndrome that golf provides us. We all get it. :$

Welcome.

But how can a 19 break 90 consistently? I'm a 14 and do it maybe 1/4 times. Either you're lower than 19 or you're playing super-easy courses.

My last 4 rounds were all under 90, so you're right you cant exactly call that consistent given that I probably played 30 plus rounds last year mostly in the mid 90's. But to me 4 in a row in the 80's is as consitent at breaking 90 as I've ever even come close to. In my last 4 rounds I Played 1 round at Angus Glen (south- white tees) and 3 at my home club Station Creek (south, blue/white). I enter all my scores and only enter anything that is 3 shots or less under par (eg. blow up 8 on a par four gets marked on the card and counted but in the computer it gets counted as 7). These 4 rounds all happened after one, one plane lesson with a pro named Gordie Burns at the Golden Ridge driving range ( he is a one plane / two plane advocate). The better scores also followed the purchase of a new set of irons that I got fitted at the OEM fitting centre. New fitted irons, New Swing ended up giving me fantastic results. I'm working on it this winter and hope to drop my number down to 15 or less by the end of next year.

Sounds like a positive growth spurt. Well done.

The downside is, when you get below 15, in Canada you have to ESC all your blowup holes down to no worse than double-bogey.

IOW, pretty soon you'll have a more braggable handicap but seldom play to it.

Is this a great game or what? :cookoo:

I'm still laughing at the phrase "reformed rugby player." Like you saw the light or something?

You can take the boy away from rugby, but you can't ...

I guess that's where whacking the ball a million miles comes in huh? Takin' it out on an inanimate object for a while. :D
