Hey all I'm jsut wondering if anyone has had the same experience I had with UPS. I just bought a set of $1200 irons and had the seller ship them through UPS. Here's the unbelievable part...they left the package in front of the house with nobody home, in a residential area in scarborough. I'm just wondering what i can do about this...file a complaint? try to get free shipping for the rest of my life? Is it worth doing anything?

The times I had items shipped by UPS varied in that it depended on whether the shipper wanted a signature or not from the receiver.

Sometimes they leave the package and other times they don't. But if in your case a signature was requested by the shipper and none was acquired, I'd say give a call to UPS and just voice your concern over your last shipment. Not sure what they can really do, other than warn the driver, because you did receive your clubs thankfully.

Do you have the sticks?

You really have no issue as UPS's deal is with the shipper, and depending on the delivery mode they picked - could be normal. If they were taken, the shipper would have had to file an insurance claim (if they bought insurance) and you would have had to fight with the shipper to get your money back..

Was this a shippment from the US? Just be happy UPS wasn't trying to collect another couple hundred bucks from you for tax, duty and broker fees.

What can Brown Do for you? LOSE YOUR CRAP... UPS is a joke... we use them here at work and we send $$$$ expensive pieces of equipment around the country and into the u.s and stuff always goes missing...insurance claims take 8 weeks lol..If your one of the lucky ones that doesnt have your items lost, you will instead get hit with a brokerage fee for your international shipments.

From a personal perspective? My personal choice is fedex but when i dont have an option i have had to deal with ups... 50% of the time there is screw up of sorts...

As for your clubs? leaving them out on your door is b/s on there part.. i'd call and say they were stolen... ( is that theft??) I retract that comment. lol

I just had a bunch of cell phones delivered from Rogers via UPS. We weren't home when they came. How they handle it is they try 3 times then they leave it at the nearest post office and leave us a card to go get them ourselves. We were home for the second visit.

Be careful about complaining so the driver can get warned. At my last place of employment I had dealings with a phsyco driver. He was very abrupt and intimidating. It got so the girls were afraid to go out to the guy when deliveries were made, so they came to me to sign for them, which was a real pain. So I called in to UPS to complain about the guys demeanor.
He showed up the next day and started freaking. I pulled him in to my office and tried to calm him. He was huge and mean and ready to do battle. Finally I asked him to leave and he refused, saying I couldn't tell him what to do. Finally I smoothed it over and we shook hands and he left.
I wanted to call his supervisor again but my boss advised against it saying he didn't want to get in to a big thing. I talked to another co-worker that knew him personally and confirmed that this driver, indeed, was a nut case. He had once tracked someone else down in a bar that had complained about him and beat him up. I don't know if that is actually true but around town he does have quite a rep.

As others have noted, obtaining a signature is an option for the shipper. Your beef is with the shipper, not with UPS. I'm assuming this shipment was within Canada, because if it was from the US then they would not leave the package there without collecting the duty/taxes first. Same thing for other COD shipments.

BTW, I always have stuff shipped to my office for this reason. Even if I'm gone for lunch, there's somebody around. Plus it helps keep my club 'hoing under the "wife radar"! :shhh:

Thanks guys for all the feedback...i've contacted the shipper and if it his choice, i would be weary of scottyboyz on ebay...but if it isn't then i think brown's gonna get a call...i don't know what i could do but hey it's the principle of the matter. Golf equipment is no joke.:D

Iwish i could have shipped the clubs to my office, but being in korea, it would have cost me a fortune...and having a golfnut for a wife is great so no wife radar here

I would seriously file a complaint. When I ordered my irons off ebay they guy used UPS. I wasnt home on the first delivery attempt so I called the number that was left on the note on my door, and basically made an appointment for them to drop off my stuff. As you can see from my signature, my irons cost me lots less then $1200. I dont know what they will give you but I would definetly be looking for the right person to yell at.

Someone reading this might be scheming up a new career path.... Follow the brown trucks around and see what goodies they leave out on peoples porches...

Not a bad idea, maybe I can get new golfclubs that way

I had UPS lose a club that i had delivered to my US address, they left it at my door and I was driving back from Toronto, they said it was delivered, there was nothing there when I got there. Needless to say, I was very ticked :( I lost an OTR cameron and a a couple of headcovers a mapleleaf and a minicrown. The headcovers weren't replaceable... i ended up getting instore credit for similar headcovers, but that seriously sucked.

When I finished college my first job out of school was with a sporting goods company. At that time our company had the Canadian distributions rights for Ping, Hogan, Slazenger, Maxfli and Puma. UPS got the nick name "Ooop's" due the amount of packages they "lost". One day I took an order for I believe it was Royal Woodbine and they ordered a $400 set of Slazenger clubs and a $1000 set of Pings. The next day the club pro called and said they got the Slaz clubs but not the Ping's. We put the claim into UPS and a few days later UPS said the package was "lost".

I went to my supervisor and said to him that every second set of Ping's UPS shipped were mysteriously "lost" and the order that was shipped from Scarboro to the airport was also "lost" although the cheaper Slaz clubs managed not to get lost. After that claim and some further research the company canceled their account with UPS.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I went to eagles nest and got fitted for titleist 704cb irons last year which cost roughly 1200.

I was watching T.V when UPS came to the door, placed the package down and left. It is as if they left as soon as possible in order to aviod a situation. UPS drivers are paid by the amount of packages they disperse in a day.

Although I am not blaming UPS or the seller, being Titleist Canada, leaving something without consent, regardless of the product, is simply disgusting.

I do not know is UPS is aware of these tactics, but IMO, their policy should be changed immediately in order to avoid lawsuits or consumer heartache.

Got a portable computer from ACER (being repaired under warranty)). It was delivered by UPS on a friday afternoon. Even though they were notified to deliver it to Ottawa they deliverd it to Kirkland Lake. We were away for the week-end and there was a snow storm on Saturday. We came back on Sunday night only to find the box under a foot of snow on the front step while shovelling.

We complained but nothing.....

This is UPS at their best....
