Who has been to the Masters?

I got my confirmation today that I have tickets to the Masters for Thursday and Friday rounds. I actually will likely have 2 tickets as well they I have purchased for the Tuesday practice round, which ma go on sale now that I have actual rounds passes.

I wondered who here has been to the Masters, and where they flew into, and where they stayed, if they remember. I was thinking about flying into Columbia, South Caroliona, which looks to be about an hour closer to Augusta than Atlanta.

Clubcar (who is taking us), has rooms held at the Marriott in Augusta .. $550 a night which is a little too steep, so anything within a half hour drive is fine.

Any help is appreciated!

I went in 2004. It was the best event I have ever been to, and not just a golf event but ANY and ALL events. It is so well run, and the golf course is almost fake looking because the grass is so perfect. It looks like astro turf. In fact I did not see ONE weed on the entire course and I walked every hole. You will be so glad you went, enjoy!!

Personally, I think $550 per night is just too expensive in my opinion. When I was there, we stayed at Greenville, SC (90 minutes drive). Columbia, SC (60 minutes drive) is a much better bet than Atlanta or Augusta. You can save a few bucks from the $550 they are charging and spend them at the souvenir store.

I got to go last year and flew to Columbia it was an easy drive and played a round on the way. My host had rented a house so didn't have to do the hotel thing but everywhere was mobbed. It's a hell of experience even HD can't do the course justice.
