They had the tape of the Remax long drive championships today.

Jason Zuback won his sixth. He's free of injuries finally. In the semis, he hit a drive of 386 yards. This is in a cool evening, with some head breeze. He uses a 5* loft. Swing speed about 150 mph.

The woman's winner hit about 320 yards. Her swing was unbelievable. It's no fluke. She's going to be around for a long time.

Even the seniors and super seniors were putting it out there.

Did Stacey S win the ladies event, or someone else? hfs

Hi Harry,

The woman who won was a Phyllis Meti, from New Zealand I think. She looked to be a Maori (sp?) heritage. At 320 yards, she was far and away the longest. Again, it was apparently cool and with a slight breeze coming in. She had a swing like no other woman I've seen before.

I remember Stacy, she's that super slim woman, who makes you wonder how she could get the ball out there.

Does anyone know when and were the local qualifiers are for those?

why do they do it at night?

They've been doing it at night for as long as I recall. It's good theatre, with the ball arching up into the lighted fairway against the black background. Good visibility for the spectators. Also, there are the elimination rounds during the day I suppose.

I've seen Zuback hit the ball and all I can say is wow...

I know that he is a Cobra guy and I'm wondering if he's using the new Hi Bore XL???

Gotta love him with David F. in those Cobra commercials when he chucks the banana at him...

Zuback is totally Cobra. He had a Graphite Design shaft I believe.

The Hi-bore is by Cleveland, is it not?

Hi rotator

I've corresponded with Stacey via email for a while but lost track of her ...
A highlight for her was at the Callaway Center hitting balls beside Annika.

That Pam girl from The Big Break III was competing as well in the women's divison. She cracked a few out to 290 but she was up against Phyllis. WOW!
I believe the ball travels farther in Nevada.

I remember back a few years there was a picture of Zuback hitting a golf ball through a phone book. It was a pretty amazing action still, the phone book was basically exploding in the pick. I wish I could find that now, I think it may have been in MacLeans magazine, before the whole long drive thing blew up. It was basically a short article about him and how he was travelling around hitting the ball a long way to entertain and make some money.

You could contact The Long Drivers Association of America perhaps.

I remember seeing a regional championship at Glen Abbey a couple of years ago, so perhaps they would know where local qualifiers would be.

They were out at DeerCreek training facility a couple summers ago.

Philis was using the SMT 455 Deep Bore driver, which gave the SMT brand of equipment the distinct title of being the first company, component or OEM , that has won every single division in the sport's history. We accomplished this feat in less than 5 years,

COngratulations again to Philis by winning by over 40 yards.

Just tuned in to TSN. They said Jason won his 5th Re/MAX title, not his 6th.

Why were there no NIKE SQs?

Owen,

What did you think of Phillis' swing? It's more like a male pros swing than any other woman golfer I've ever seen. I think she's competing in an Aussie tour.
