Hey all, if it doesn't conflict with the advertising rules is anyone interested in a networking / contacts thread?

I imagine all information posted would have to be non-golf related.

If there's interest I'll start it. Something like

What you do:

What type of industry/contacts you're looking for:

no Lavalife stuff    just bitness!

I think it's a great idea, especially since I am a small business owner. However, I'll wait until we get the okay from the powers that be before posting my information.

Since I'm a student, I don't think I'll be conflicting with anything - if I do though, please feel free to edit me!

I'm 22 years old, and in my second year of a marketing administration. My studies have taken me to Queen's University, where I dabbled in computer science and environmental science.

I'm currently employed as a marketing assistant for a multinational publishing company, where I help plan and executive email, DM, and other traditional media-forms of marketing.

I'm willing to give small businesses a hand with marketing, web presence, web hosting, and a few other things on the side. I'm looking to help out where I can, and get a head start on my networking where possible!

This type of thread can work but it should be non-commercial (i.e. no weblinks, phone numbers etc.) as per the normal rules of the forum.
If you have interest in Networking or exchanging contacts with someone who has posted in the thread - send a PM.
Feel free to let people know who you are and what you do - but please refrain from soliciting business in the open forum. (The MODS are watching) :p

Fair enough Pingnut.

I am a carpenter and have my own Deck building business. I specialize in the building of custom decks, arbors, benches, pergolas, screens, trellises and fences.

My trade and business are a direct result of me being unable to play golf professionally, and nothing more!

OK, sounds good, I'll try not sound like a commercial;

I own an advertising company. We provide multi-media kiosks and 3D digital tours to the homebuilding industry. We're a start up so all networking ops are great for us. We are always also looking to use local CG artists with architectural experience and or meet anyone in the homebuilding industry.

This is good!

I'm a litigation accountant. I quantify damages in civil litigation...like if you're suing for breach of contract, accountants'/auditors' negligence, business valuations for shareholder disputes, etc.

Hey, it's more fun than auditing or doing tax returns! :)

we haven't even got to that point yet - it's all very grass roots - the product has always been priority number one but now that we have a decent client base and more resources, we're beginning to look at developing serious processes and policies. never used Quark - is it any good?

Which firm is your father involved with?

After seeing your post get deleted Mike, what's even the point of gracing these pages with the name of my Fathers business who's been going strong for 35 years, just to have my post deleted because I'm in "violation" of the advertising rules.

I'm even thinking this thread is useless as anyone who talks openly about their business, will get shut down unless you fork out some green, just to have the privilege of uttering it's name.

It's a great topic mind you and brings all walks of life together into a small community....networking is what makes the world go 'round and helps grow the "business"..... (hint-hint)
