  • International no more!

The death of the international tournament:

The scoring format for the tournament did make it a little interesting to watch, like the year Steve Lowery had a couple of eagles down the stretch to narrowly lose to Rich Beem.

If the Canadian Open could get the date somehow, it would probably be a little more attractive than right after the Open Championship, but given it won't generate US network interest as much as a US site, that's not gonna happen

Yep, too bad about that tourney going away, I liked it mainly since it was a different format.

That would be a better week for the Canadian Open but don't count on it. The Canadian Open gets no respect from the PGA Tour.

          Re: International no more!

The local Markham paper had an article on it saying the Cdn Open officials are trying to get the date, and have been in discussions for about the last month with the Tour. With it being around Independence Day, likely the Tour would want a US stop. Ironically, the International folded due to a lack of sponsor, and our event is in a similar position.

Get some new people in charge of the RCGA, and then there would be both more respect from the PGA and a new sponsor for the Canadian Open.

yeah, i read that article too.
too bad about the International ... good scoring format.

re: the Canadian Open @ Angus 2007 ... the article mentioned that they'll be playing the first 16 holes on the North Course, then the last 2 holes on the South Course. Is this common for tournaments hosted at venues with multiple courses on site?
