I've already played 6.5 rounds so far beginning from April 15th....suffice it to say that the first 2-3 rounds were very rusty especially with the short game.
But since then my short game has taken off to levels I've never had before....many 1-putts from within 5-6 ft.....many chips and pitches to within 3-6 ft. Not sure why it's gotten better since I haven't practiced this during the winter season, but I've developed a feel aspect to the game...reading greens much better and a more consistent stroke for those testy 5-6 footers.....
Some highlights thus far for me:
- drained a putt from 45 ft to save par
- drove the green on a short par 4 (245-250 yrds about 30 ft uphill)..my first one ever!
What are some of your proud moments so far? :)

So far my highlight is draining a 45 ft putt for Birdie on a par 5. As long as it doesn't rain this weekend I will be out on Friday and Saturday..... I think I feel a cold coming on for Friday ahhhh-Choo! :nono:
Hopefully I will have more highlights on Monday!

So far for me I have played two nine hole rounds and three full 18's.
First hole of my first round of my first 9, I got a birdie. So I had going for me (Bill Murray Caddyshack voice).
My first 18 I played the par 5's at Glen Eagle 1 under which was nice.
And my putting average so far this year is a nice 1.85 so far after 3 rounds of golf where I have been counting.
And hitting 9 of 14 fairways last Sunday made my weekend to say the least. Now to get the first under 90 round under my belt.

I've played a 9-hole round a two 18 hole rounds and have been surprised at my consistency so far. Only Two double Bogeys total and an 83 and an 81 at Willow Valley and Royal Ontario.
Can't wait to see what I might shoot by July and August.

Played a dozen rounds.
Handicap already down by 1/2 point.
67% fairways hit and 40% greens hit.
Already have my first eagle of the year, in the bag.
4 rounds under 80 even with all the rain and wet conditions we've had.
First event of the 2005 OttawaGolf Tour season is this saturday.
First road trip (Mt Tremnblant) is booked for june.
I guess things are going well here too:cool:

I'm happy so far with my year. I've played about a dozen rounds. The first few I had trouble off the tee, but I'm hitting relatively straight again. Hitting my irons really well, and my short game is fine.
I am having trouble with my wedges though, explicitly with regard to distance control. I'm sure that will improve with time however.
The other issue I've had so far this year is the weather, which I must say has been cold. Today's round there was one point where the wind was so strong, and the rain so cold I was questioning my own sanity for being out there.
All in all I think the year is off to a good start, and I'm looking forward to warmer weather and lower scores. ;)
got my first par of the season already 2 weeks ago at Woodington Lake hole #2...my putting has improved a lot from last season, I still have a lot of room for improvement this season! Goal is to break 100!

Played three times and worst round was the last one. Had my playing partner by 2 strokes with 3 to play and he beat me by 8!!!!!!!!!! at the end (one OB - 2 in the pond arrrg!) Got to get some warmer weather because the hands get too numb at the end. (cant play wearing ANY kind of glove! Never have - never will!) maybe i should start a thread about gloves!

I have only played twice, first round putting was awful but ball striking was moderately good, second round putting was good but the rest of my game especially driving sucked badly. Better things to come this Saturday.:fingersx:

Played my first round last week. It is unbelievable to be golfing in North Eastern Ontario in early May. This is a frist for me. Another round plan for Saturday then golf trip planned for next week. 5 rounds in 3 days.... YAHOOOOO!!! Boyne Mountain (MI) here I come...
Highlights: the R7 is better than advertised. If you guys have a chance to try one it is awesome...
Quite happy with a 90 for the first round. Putting is quite a challenge when you don't know where the ball is going to go but can't complaint...

I played my second round today. I got pelted in the head with hail and then I stumbled as I picked up my bag. My size 13 shoe landed on the stand for my bag. I weigh 96 kilos. It broke. The hail continued to bounce off my bald head. My playing partners laughed at me.
I think I had fun.
I bought a new bag. I love golf in Toronto.:)

Played about 10 rounds so far, surprisingly my chipping and wedges have been pretty good. Scrabbling out there to save par. Had problems with my approaches at first but my last round was much better. Hopefully, I'll get them sorted out and improve on the putting. My scores have been all over the place, from 96 to 79.. I can't seem to get everything going on the same day. One day the putters hot, the next the driver is. Go figure!

My golf season is starting off surprisingly well.... Played Angus Glen North on Friday. It was a beautiful day and the course was in great condition. Shot an 87 from the whites....what killed me was my putting. I had 5 3 putts! ARGGGGHHH! My chipping wasn't all that hot either....on the par 4 9th (302 yards) I hit my drive and was 15 yards off of the green and I still par'd the darn hole!
Some days you have to love golfing as a single (ok I ditched work in the afternoon for the "dentist" :hush: ) There was a threesome a couple of groups ahead of me and one of the guys who works there asked if they minded if a woman could join their group..he didn't know I was within hearing range and I heard him say..."no way, are you crazy"... I guess they figured I was going to be playing from the reds and shooting 200. My 87 from the whites will show them! Anyways I was paired up with 2 great guys and had a lot of fun. Both were great golfers and gave me some chipping tips...hopefully the rain will hold off and I will be able to try them out this week-end!
Cheers!

Glad to hear you enjoyed your day with two gentlemen instead of some naive jocks. Angus Glen North is in great shape considering its only early May. I played there a couple times this year. If you're planning on playing there again, PM me, I would love a few tips for my game!

4 rounds so far. Best was 85, worst 93. Can't putt to save my life but I'm hitting the ball nicely everywhere else. Any day on the course is better than being in an office:D:)

Quite new to the sport as this is my first year playing (Played my first round ever last fall). Have played 2 full rounds and 2 half (9 holes) up until today. Played Markham Green today and shot 56. Pretty happy about that, though would like to break 100 by the end of the season.
key for me today was to just swing away. Used to focus too much on swinging the perfect swing but today I just swung for my targets....Realized that the time to perfect the swing is at the range.
Still need work on the driver but it'll come

Well...
I have played 5 or 6 rounds ( on my Playstation... ) :(
BUT! I finally got out to the driving range today... yay!
My Adams Tight Lies - UC10 irons that I ordered came in last night so I absolutely had to get them out to the driving range ASAP!
I only got a small bucket....
First shot - beautiful 7 iron shot... 7 iron has always been my favorite club!
The next forty or fifty... yeah not so much...
Second last shot using my 3 iron you would have thought I was digging for gold...
The only saving grace was that my last shot (again with the three iron) was still airborne as it flew over the 150 yard marker straight as an arrow from my tee box... :D

And that says it ALL!

Been out 5 times anywhere from 83 to 97. Got a new putter, gap wedge and driver that is taking some getting used to but the same problems carry over year after year. Mainly, I am the worst putter who ever lived and i can't hit anything lower than 7 iron. Aside from that the driver is working good most of the time. I hit 11 out of 12 fairways last time all most of them over 260 and 2 over 300. But I know I can still bist one out over 300 two fairways over whenever I want. Same thing will happen that happens every year, just when everything starts to come together it will snow and the clubs will be put away only to go through the same thing next year.

I've played 5 rounds this season. Deer Creek south, Carlisle in Burlington, Rolling Hills about a month ago and Bushwood on Friday. I've been shooting anywhere from 91 - 96.
I'm kinda happy since this is my second year playing for real. I got a new driver, sand wedge and putter.
I've got my first birdie at Rolling Hills, I can't wait for next weekend, hopefully we'll be at Timber Ridge.
I still have to work on my high fade, I mean my slice when not focusing...
Have a great year everyone... Hit em long and straight...

and yeah being on the course is better than being at work...

I was just at Timber Ridge (Hawk Ridge, right?) last Sunday....finally got my first birdie of the season...par 5, 466 yrds....half a yard short of getting green-in-two....but I'll take that any day..:D

the year has been fun and frustrating as usual. when the short game is on, the driver and irons suck and vice versa.
can't wait for the day that they both get synched up. no birdies so far for me. well, except when i played an extra hole (but i'm not counting that).

played my 2nd round of the year, first in BC and with my own clubs...
I holed out from 70 Yards!!!! yay!! first time ever!! I have never gotten an ace, never chipped in or bunker shot in (well..i only play <10 rounds a year)...so yea..doesn't happen to me very often...so i was really happy :D
though holing out that shot gave me a bogie (it was a disastrous hole up till that point)...lol.....
my putting was not bad.....been very consistent in that area....
need to work on my short game.....badly..
and i think today, my mental game got the best of me....if i sense someone that's not from my playing group watching me hitting a shot, i became extremely tense and messed up that shot...
blah....so yea..no comment on how the rest of my round went..lol
need to play more!
