I booked at tee at Rolling Hiils Championship Course for the weekend. On the rating site http://www.ontgolf.ca/ratingresults.php?id=325, I read some mix review. Anyone play there this season and willing to share his/her experience.

Thanks,

Teck

This doesn't sound too good. Any other good alternative in the Richmond Hills Area?

Been a while since I played it but what about Westview?

I am no fan of Rolling Hills (aka FOUR!). I have no idea where Richmond Hill begins or ends but in the general vicinity is Westview, Shawneeki, Pheasant Run and St. Andrews Valley. Maples of Ballantrae and Ballantrae are not far away.

If you are a good player, I recommend St Andrews Valley or Westview.

If your average, try Shawneeki or Pheasant Run. Pheasant Run has one difficult nine and two average nines. The difficult nine (Highlands) is very pretty.

The longest round of my life occurred at Maples, so I find it difficult to recommend to anyone, although I think the course is an above average layout.

Ballantrae is an interesting change from regular parkland courses, something like Angus Glen on a budget. Inverted saucer greens and run off areas with wide fairways. Easy to drive, difficult around the greens.

Now your problem may be that all of these course are USUALLY more expensive than the human-target-range they call "Rolling Hills".

That we cannot help you with.
Good luck.
Pud.

I played there couple of weeks ago...my second time there, I am not very impress at this course at all. It's expensive, yet both times I've been there the course is not in good condition, especially for a clublink course. I know it's Spring the last time I went, but the previous time before was in peak season. Greens are patchy, lots of people that don't know any golf etiquette play there, never replace any divots or anything like that. I'd spend my money elsewhere!

I am not a fan of that course, conditions are often poor, the course is very wet if there has been a recent rain and drains poorly. There are a few holes where it is possible to get hit by errant shots and the pace of play is usually slow (5+ hours).

The company I work for has a tournament there each year (May 28th), I guess they get a good deal through the club which is why they keep going back, the tournament supports the Hospital for Sick Children but I have said that I won't play in that "swamp" again, I am making my donation to the hospital as usual but until they switch courses my co-workers will have to survive without the pleasure of my company.:D

Rolling Hills is horrible, especially the Championship course. Not worth the money it costs to play there. The executive course, however, is reasonably priced and much more fun to play than a Par 3.

For less money, I would recommend you to go play Bloomington Downs. It's at Bayview and Bloomington (just north of Richmond Hill by like 10 mins) and much better (for your dollar) than Rolling Hills.

Thanks everyone for the response. After reading all the review about this course. I am starting to call around to get a Tee time somewhere else. Hopefully, it is not too late...

Cheers,

Teck.

I know this is after the fact but I have to add my 2 cents into the Rolling Hills Bashing Thread. This by far is one of the worse courses I have every played on. Total rip off for the price they charge and the conditions are worse than horrible! They mind as well put some cows and horses on there and call it something else. DO NOT PLAY THERE! I hope someone from Clublink reads this and escalades this up to the owners or managers!

Couldn't get a last minute tee time somewhere else... Will have to play Rolling Hills Championship course tomorrow... I hope it will not be too disappointed for us...

At least this is still early of the season...there are many chances to find a better course somewhere else next time...

I played with three other friends and none of them have any complaints, we are all mid 25 handicapers. Infact. one of them like it very much. Personally, I will give it a grade B. The pace seem to move really well. We started at 10:00AM, there is no body in front of us. For many holes, it is very easy to hit the ball onto the other fairways. I can see why the pace will be very very slow if the course get busy.

On the bad side, a few holes have a small part of fairway or greenside under construction. Also, the bunker hardly has any sand in it. Really bad!!!

For $50, I am sure I can find something better around the area. I will try Bloominton Down this weekend.

Hey teckyong! Sorry to hear about your so-so round at Rolling Hills Challenger. I have heard good things about Bloomington Downs. Although I know they are more expensive they might be worth it. Please let me know if you play there and how it is.

Hey QB. I played Bloomington Downs this past weekend, and have no real complaints about the course. It was a little soggy in some spots on the front 9, but the greens were ok and overall the course was in decent shape. It is pretty wide open, which is good for me right now as i'm working on consistency, so not too many places to lose balls :) It got a little slow on the back nine, but we finished our round in about 4.5 hours. Pace picked up after the marshall came by and moved one group along that was slowing things down.
