View Full Version : Questions about TorontoGolfNuts.com's Golf Tournament
Hi, I got a few questions today about the tournament, I'll post them here so that the questions aren't repeated.
Is it 2 or 4 man best ball?
It's 4 man best ball
Is it best ball or scramble?
Best ball.
What is best ball?
All players play out the hole from the beginning and the best score is taken.
What is scramble? (we are not playing this format)
Four shots off the tee, 3 people take their balls to where the best shot was and shoots from there.
Can you enter as a foursome?
Yes, absolutely!
When? Where?
July 24, 2005
Angus Glen Golf Club (north course), Markham
Will we need handicap cards and hope there aren't too many sandbaggers amongst us?
The tournament format is 4 man best ball, there is no need for handicap cards.

Question re:Handicaps
Eventhough it is 4 Man Best Ball, should there still not be some sort of equitable way of determining the teams via handicap? i.e., 1 A player, 1 B player, 1 C player, 1 D player?
Would seem to be too obvious that a team of single digits is going to beat a team of double digits most days...

Would seem to be too obvious that a team of single digits is going to beat a team of double digits most days...I agree with that. The only problem is guys want to play with their buddies. That is why we need strokes. Your best ball score will be from each players net score for the hole. That way a team of four high handicappers can still compete with a team of four low handicappers.

The prize breakdown is not available yet, we have a lot of prizes already, but we want to get a complete list of prizes before we divvy it up for the different contest, but you can rest assure there is no shortage of prizes and they won't be crappy either. :) If you take a look at the Tournament page (http://www.torontogolfnuts.com/tournament.php), there is a listing of a few of the prizes that are secured. We are still in the process of deciding whether the participating field would prefer us to spend money on prizes or trophies. :)
The tournament start time is going to be in the afternoon at around 1 pm.
It's not $125 haha...unless you wait till the last minute and pay by PayPal.
The tournament fee will include range balls, cart and meal. (also mentioned on the tournament page (http://www.torontogolfnuts.com/tournament.php))

To be honest, the only reason we would cancel is if Angus Glen decides to close for the day due to weather conditions, in that case, we have to see what Angus Glen's policy is, we are checking on this matter and as soon as I have a definite answer, I will post it.

If this is true then according to the Angus Glen North Course information, the men will be teeing off closer than the ladies  . Check out the course information and you see what I mean, the blue tees have less yardage than the red tees. . I assume that you'll fix this eventually?

Can you get it any earlier?? Don't take this the wrong way, but if the "hot meal" and awards ceremony follows the game then it'll be pretty late by the time we get home. And that would suck for us early Monday morning risers...
Otherwise, I guess 2pm is why the $100 registration was so cheap... ;)

Hi Mepoor, 1pm was our tentative time if we were going to go off double tee's but since we have 144 people, we're definately shot gunning and Angus will only shotgun at 2pm so that they can get a full morning schedule off.
The BBQ Lunch will be served before the tournament so it won't be that late. Everything should be over by 830-9pm.

I might be wrong but I'm just giving a worst case scenerio. 2pm shotgun and a 5hr round will mean 7pm. Present awards to winning teams and handing out some prizes will take roughly an 1hr. If you have a long drive, you don't have to stay till the end, just gives everyone else a better chance at the awesome prizes! :D

70% chance of rain Sunday afternoon. :(
That is just unbeleivable. 6 weeks of gorgeous weather and the one day I pay to play golf it forecasts rain...

Is anybody bringing a camera?? (Digital would likely be best)
Mok might want to start a Picture thread tomorrow of all us Duffers hacking up the course and the various shigannigins...
Bring a rain jacket - the weather channel still calling for 70% rain and T-storms this afternoon.
See y'all there...
