I know this has been discussed to death, but I don't think anyone has ever provided the name of a good club fitter in the Burlington/Oakville/Mississauga area.
One store in Oakville was recommended a while ago, but there have been conflicting reports recently, I believe.
I need someone to help me figure out the proper length, loft, lie, grips and shafts for my game. All the way from driver to lob wedge. I am not looking to buy new heads, as I believe they suit me well. Just looking for some shaft recommendations and some bending as required.
Can anyone give me the name and contact information for a good fitter in my area? I know we have some good fitters on the board, but unfortunately they are all located in north Toronto, and I'd like to stay local.
Thanks!

So does that mean the only fitter in my area sucks? There must be a good fitter in the area!
I may just have to wait until I move to TO in the fall.

Going to any golf pro would be like going to your family doctor regarding your heart when you should be going to a 'heart specialist'. Find a golf pro who has fit many people and takes an interest or is passionate about equipment.
Or even better, go to someone who does golf fittings for a living. Try Joe at Oakville Golf.

I believe this store might be the subject of the conflicting reports I mentioned in my original post. I've never been, so I am open to people's opinions.
And I am looking for a fitter NOT a pro. A pro is good at teaching. A fitter is good at building clubs. I have a pro to teach me, so now I need a fitter to measure me and modify my set (if required).

Then do yourself a favor and don't go there.:hush:

If you are looking for your a fitting to have 'custom' non-name brand clubs made for you, Oakville Golf is great. Not sure where the negative talk stemmed from but Joe is a great guy and knows what he is doing. Form your own opinion and go talk to Joe at Oakville Golf. If you don't like what he has to say, walk away.
Having said that if you're looking at buying a name brand set (Taylor, Callaway, Titleist) they all have fitting centers in the area where I assure you that you will be given a thorough and correct fit.

The negative is coming from watching a friend being treated as far as I'm concerned very unprofessionally.

I know it is in the opposite direction but have you though about getting fitted in St. Cathrines? I am going there one week from tommorow for my fitting. I spoke with the guy and he sounds very knowledgable and no pressure to buy his stuff. Whatever your budget will allow he will do and not pressure you. He came highly recommended by my instructor whom he uses as well for his club fitting. If my instructor played in a few Canadian Opens then he might know what he's talking about when it comes to referrals.:hush: Just a hunch. If you want the # PM me Skt07.

I to suffered a bad experience. I booked with Joe and when I showed up no one for a fitting was even there. Finally some other guy showed up and wouldn't put me on the launch monitor even though I asked twice. He was basically in a rush. Watched me swing a couple and reccomended a shaft. As I'm not that experienced and this was my first fitting I wasn't sure if what I had was valid. Had a real good idea it wasn't. I then posted here for opinions from those more experienced. After speaking with another friend that also reccomended Joe I called back. Joe was more than accomadating and more than made up for it. He really was pretty good. Oddly enough I still got the same shaft reccomendation after all measurements were taken. Somehow I wonder if its predetermined that the majority get this particular shaft reccomended. I won't know if this shaft works for me until I get a chance to go out and use it. It feels good hitting it in to a net 20 feet in front of me but I guess that doesn't tell me much. I have been since informed that hte guy in question doing the lousy fittings has since been terminated and perhaps this will restore some credibility to the facility.
Right now I'm pondering the delimma of new irons. I've got it narrowed down to either Mizuno MX-25s or KZG CB IIMs. I'm exploring more carefully now my choice of fitter to assist me on this. At one point I wanted not to have to go to far out of my way, now I don't care if I have to drive to California as long as I can be assured of getting quality service. It seems finding a good fitter is like finding a good auto mechanic. I have one in mind now that I may give a try.

I'm looking to modify my Taylor Made irons if required. Would this fall under a custom fitter or would the TM fitting centre be able to help me out (i.e., change shafts, bend lies etc.)?

The Matt centre in Vaughn is worth checking out but it is pricey at 250/2hrs.
It may be the best money you'll ever spend, since the very least you'll come away with is some understanding of where your swing is in relation to where it should be.If you go with your set you will find out whether your present shafts are for you and if a change is even necessary.
