Hello all,

I'm not sure if anyone on here can help me, but I thought it would be worth a try. I am 29 yrs old, and I am currently employed within the industy at a public course (which will remain nameless). I am not sure that this is the best place for me, and I am looking for other alternatives at other courses/clubs.

In my two years in the golf industry, I feel that I have learned most aspects of the business. I got into golf late after deciding that the financial industry may not neccessarily be for me. I am exempt from taking any PGM program due to my advanced academic background in business, economics, and finance. The reason for my decision to move into golf was the fact that it fit so well with my other job, which is coaching elite level skiers during the winter months.

As stated I am currently employed at a course, new to me this season, and I have worked at one of the busier public courses for the past two years. I am unsure as to why I feel that this may not be a good fit, but I am going with my gut instinct, which is usually correct.

All I am looking for is a place where I can move into a position where I can grow and develop as a professional. I have checked on all the other sites, and have decided to "christen" this section of the TGN forums.

If anyone on here is looking for a responsible individual who knows his way aroung the business end of things, please feel free to PM me. If anyone on this forum knows of someone looking for such an individual, please do the same.

I have extensive sales, merchandising, club fitting and repair, marketing, and general golf experience/knowledge, and I am looking for an environment where I can put it all to good use, while furthering my own knowledge of the golf business. I can have a resume out to anyone with an interest within a very short period of time, and I am willing to start whenever neccessary. All I need is the ability to play and practice so that I can get the pesky playability out of my way (I play to a 2hdcp), and I am all set.

I would like to add that I am looking for something in the GTA and surrounding area. Preferably with a 45 minute drive. I am currently residing in Brampton, but am moving to Etobicoke at the end of May.

Thanks, if anything, for looking.

Mike,

I'm sure this is an obvious one, but have you checked with the Ontario Pga? They are always looking for entry level people such as yourself. The position is Candidate until you play in. Get in touch with them, and take advantage of the job postings there if you haven't already. www.ontariopga.com (http://www.ontariopga.com)

I am constantly checking up on the OPGA site as well as Workopolis and Monster. Just thought I'd try a different approach.

It's not that I don't have a job, it's just that the position that I currently have is not necessarily where I would like to be. I'm not being picky, I just don't believe that it is the right fit for me.

Thanks to eveyone who has replied so far.

Clublink is having a job fair at Station Creek in August. Call them for the dates.

I also saw a CL job fair. Also you should approach OE's for sales jobs. WInter time is more quiet (except for trade shows) which would probably allow you to continue coaching skiing.

Thanks for the input guys. This thread was an old one. Just to give a bit of an update, since being posted, I took a position with a golf retailer running their club dept. at one of their many stores. I worked there until spring of this year, when I accepted a position as an assistant professional at a private golf club. Very happy with my decision. Thanks again for the help and suggestions.
