Pounding the tee into the ground on the tee deck

Just a quick question - i was waiting for a 4some to tee off in front of me awhile ago and one guy hit a really nasty slice 4 fairways over and pounded his tee into the ground:nono: didnt even try to fix it:eek: so we get up there and there is a really nice mark on the tee deck:mad:

does he take a penalty at all for marking the tee deck? other than a marshall reprimanding him shouldn't he be chastised by his partners? other than a broken tee are you required under rules to use your ball mark tool to straighten the deck?

No penalty but it sure shows poor etiquette and a lack of consideration for other golfers.
