Should clothes matter on a golf course? As long as players are respectful, does it really matter if they're wearing jeans nowadays?

I can understand not allowing mini-skirts since it would distract male players... but... heck, why not? Would you guys really mind if a girl plays in a tube top with a mini-skirt?

hmm...I think the major companies just need to make more fashionable clothes for lady golfers. Nike, Callaway, Titleist and others need to make more golf clothes and accessories in feminine colors. Not sure about a tube top being respectable on a golf course. Plus that would definitely put limits my golf swing. How about cute baby-Ts? ;)

haha i'd like to see tube tops fall down  during a swing haha :D

but seriously, it's just like tennis, depends where you play, if you are playing at some par 3 city course, i don't think they care what you wear, different places have different dress code, each course can have their own rules, but if they don't go ahead and break out the mini-skirt and tube top...

i think the major companies don't make the clothing due to no demand...

Really? I actually think there's a lot of potential with more women, especially younger women, getting into this sport. Tube tops and mini-skirts aside, I think QB's right about colour. Maybe even different cuts and styles, nicer looking bags and accessories... something to make shopping for golf exciting and fun.

Of course I don't think the guys would mind, but most golf club owners and those higher-ups out in the golf world want to maintain the image of the sport as being classy and respectful.....I tend to agree with that sentiment because it tends to put golf at another level compared w/other major sports

Of course there are always ways of dressing daringly and fashionable and yet be able to maintain the image of the sport, and I believe that's where golf tends to be heading nowadays.......

I agree with Woods..there are always ways around stuffy fashions. Like any outfit, add a little creativity and work from there. Past examples: Jeanette Lee (Black Widow) caused an uproar with her style and clothes and Williams was asked to remove her boots during a tournamant!

While tennis has a come a long way in fashion ... I'm wondering if it's lost a little of it's prestige???? Will this happen to golf too?

I think as long as they don't let certain street fashion designers making golf clothes than we can keep Golf respectable. It would be weird to see Sean Jean or Baby Phat on young golfers. Lets keep street wear on the streets!

Hey Ems, in answer to your idea about making shopping for Golf fun with stylish cuts and colors. I saw a really nice golf outfit on Grace Park the other day. She wore a nice sleeveless powder blue golf T and a short white skirt with built in shorts. It was feminine, sexy and still respectably stylish. ;)

yah jeanette lee caught the eye of everyone when she was playing 9-ball pool...now it seems almost natural that players in that sport dress like that...

and yah although wimbledon has their strict all white dress code, the williams sisters were able to make fashion statements there as well...i thought they did not bring down the image of the sport one bit. times change, clothing style changes :)

I think that the golf sport has always catered to higher end individuals and it's only in the recent years that they started to increase the demographics. The fashion for women have not been the best in the past and they still need work coming up with better designs and colours, but I see that the golf industry is definitely trying to diversify.

Better fashion... thumbs up, but I don't agree with trashy clothes.

I'm a traditionalist so I respect the dress codes but I'm also a pig and I would love to see hot women in mini's and tubes if it were allowed. To see mini skirts and tube tops would be great eye candy but only if worn by the right person...hehe...wouldn't want to see Nancy Lopez in a mini or tube...haha...cannot see golf heading in that direction though. I understand that golf was originally a sport for the rich and looked upon with tradition and class. Sort of like Polo. What I see on tour now in the PGA and LPGA is fine. Men look classy yet sporty and so do the women. I especially like the new Nike Golf wear and the no collar look. We can thank Tiger for that!

I like the sound of this outfit! I guess they're out there, just not as prevalent.

I think it comes down to tradition. I would rather see nice a shirt on a course than hockey jerseys, or cackies and not jeans, it just looks better. I think the PGA pros should be allowed to wear shorts, especially when you see them sweating buckets.
