Driving for show Putting for dough! so they say!

Well were to start with my putting?

My putting stroke is reasonable and a recent trial of every putter on the market ( or so it seemed.lol) produces a nice roll on the ball...so yippie for me!

So whats the problem?

READING GREENS!

i mean we can all see those great big hills and slopes on some of the greens BUT i recently played a course where it was the Grain of the grass on the green that moved the ball just as much or even more than the slope of the green!
AND I HAD NO IDEA HOW TO PUTT ON THOSE GREENS?

any good tips for those types of greens or is there a book/dvd etc that specifically covers this topic?

Some help would be appreciated on this 1 guys because i loved the course so much i am thinking of becoming a member there and i dont want to be shooting in the 100's anymore.....lol ( shot 102 and had 44 putts was almost suicidal by the end of the round)

I guess just practice for your problem.

Heres mine:

I got a new putter and its way heavier than my old one. I had a cheap blade putter now i bought a Founders Club Tour Tuned BLue number 2 putter and its so hard to get used to. I find that at home on my carpet and on the putting greens at golftown i get putt after putt aftetr putt.. but when im on the green i constantly miss the hold and i miss 2 and 3 footers. I was at 90 percent from 5 feet with my old crappy putter but its not balanced and it sucks.. so i thought i would buy a new one. Any tips on getting used to a heavyer putter?

when i switched to a heavier putter i found it improved my lagging and therefore greatly lessened my 3 putting but i didnt make as many 20 footers ( not that i made many.....lol ).i guess the best advice for you is to practice and make a smooth stroke...........if your holing them at home on the carpet then theoretically u can hole them on the greens....sounds to me like you may be a little anxious about having a new putter and replacing your old favourite and you MIGHT be jabbing at your putts ( shortening your follow through ) but thats impossible to tell without watching you putt.

my problem is a little different........ i am rolling the ball well but struggling to actually READ the lines or judge the effect a heavy grain has on my putts.

I would consider my putting to be miles and miles ahead of my swing game. I generally read the green pretty well, and am usually off in the weighting of my putt. If you are having issues with the grain of the grass, is it's effect consistent, in that relative to the slope of the green will the ball do the same thing with respect to the grain of grass?

I picked up Stan Utleys book 'The Art of Putting' really helped my putting - there is a chapter on reading greens and actually hitting the line etc.
