I'm just wondering out of curiosity what everyones most used club is aside from the putter. Mine, right now seems to be the 56 degree wedge. I'm getting pretty close to hitting those greens but still just a bit off. So my SW is my most used club.

Does ball retriever count? I guess right now it would be my SW or PW depending on how far I am off of the green.
If you asked which one was most consistent - I would still say my ball retriever!

 Funny. I have alot of faults with my game but sand and water don't seem to be one of them. Very seldom do I drop one in the water or sand bunker. But because I play alot with my wife I also end up using the ball retriever alot.

8 iron for me.....
It's a versatile club around the greens and from green side bunkers. Sometimes, instead of trying to blast it out of a bunker that's level with the green and not buried, I'll pick it clean like a chip using my 8 iron and get much better results.

Yep, that would be it. Aside from it though it would have to be one of my wedges, probably the gap wedge. It is used for approach shots from around 100 yards and many chips around the green.

I'm just wondering out of curiosity what everyones most used club is aside from the putter. .
gotta be my ol' skool Mizuno FliHi 21° . glorious grain flow forged feelin' ...
a guaranteed 210 yards down the middle off the tee with a slight fade when i just gotta keep it in play.
... or on approach shots chokin' down a bit makin' it into a smoooooooth short-iron.
... or chippin' from the fringe with a putting stroke

For me its the nine iron, my favorite club in the bag. I feel comfortable hitting this club from 140 to 110 and use it often around the greens.
After the nine it is my gap wedge that gets the most play... most shots from 100 and in.

Aside from the putter (averaging 28 putts per round), I'd have to say my 48 degree PW. I've gotten to love that club from 130 yards to greenside for chipping.

I would say its the sw 56 degree. All chipping/pitching/sand and within 80 yards. Least used is probably lob wedge 60 degrees. I wish my putts were 28/round. My average putts per round are around 34-36.

Sadly I must admit days when it's my putter - not by choice mind you - some days I can't seem to get it back in the bag - take it out and 3-4 putts later it still wants the spotlight - other than that like most my 54 vokey wedge - from 100 in I use if for everything including chipping and pitching except when the hybrid, lob or putter from around the green presents a better option -

My 2i gets a lot of play off the tee, and sometimes off the fairway.
FOr the short irons, it's hard to say, I think 7i-GW are used pretty eveninly depending on the course length ...
So i guess it's consistently the 2i (sometimes driver if it's an open long course), and the 60* wedge as i use it a lot around the greens.

I am amazed that most people don't hit driver on every hole (save par 3's). The average golfer only hits the ball approximately 195 yards, as quoted below in an article I got form 2003.
"This concern first became an issue soon after the Haskell ball was introduced and in 1907 it was stated; “ The average drive will soon be 300 yards and all golf courses will need to be lengthened if the USGA does not take action soon.” Well the average drive today is 195 yards for men and 145 for women. The average drive on the PGA Tour at the end of the 2003 season is 285 yards. Herein lies the problem. The professional golfers (approximately 100 of them) are able to hit the ball 285 yards or more with the longest reaching distances of more than 300 yards."
Thus if you can't hit your drives a minimum of 250 yards, I have no understanding how you can hit anything outside a driver off the tee.
I use the example of an average hole being from the white tees 370 yards... I want to be as close to the hole as possible.
Every once in a while there is a par 4 that may require a 3w, but I use a driver every hole.
I'll use Glen Abbey as an example.... Is there a hole that does not require a driver?
I am amazed that people, who are not hitting it 250 yards +, spend $500 on a driver and then use it 6 times a round, because they love 180 yard approaches over 140 yard approaches.
Just does not make a whole lot of sense to me.

I'm not sure you've thought this through.
You're taking questionable speculation, and a particular course, and making assumptions about people's reasoning.
People don't just blindly hit away. They know what they want to hit on their approach, and they choose their clubs accordingly.
Let's use Don Valley as an example, since I played there last week. Some of those par-4's are under 300 yards. I'll hit my driver 230-240 ... so on a 279-yard hole, a driver would get me roughly 40 yards from the green (ignoring doglegs, etc.). It's wiser for me to hit my 3-wood, which I hit more consistently and will give me a nice short wedge shot. There are several holes like this at Don Valley.
There are also hazards that I can reach on the longer holes if I use my driver, but not if I use a 5-wood or hybrid.
You're making generalizations, and using length alone as the only factor, and you're ignoring that the average golfer is far less consistent with a driver than with their fairway woods. You're also ignoring that different courses and different holes have different layouts, and people will need to choose their clubs accordingly.
If anything, I'd say that many people use their driver too often -- trying to get an extra twenty or thirty yards when they really don't need to do so to set up an approach shot. And then they slice the ball into the woods. I've never found myself saying "that guy should hit his driver more often." I HAVE found myself saying "that guy should stop living and dying by his driver".

I grew up playing Don Valley so I know what I speak..... This may actually be the only course where you have to think about whether to use the driver on a few holes.... Number 4 which is a 90 degree dogleg once you've clearde the water 150 yards off the tee is an example.... 9 unless you can drive the gree, same with 18 though 30 yards longer. 1 used to be the same problem as 5 prior to the course renovation, though now you can drive the green.... but I'd say Don Valley is an exception and a very unique course in that regard.
Every course I seem to play over 6,200 from the white screams driver. I'd rather be closer to the hole in just about every case..... yea, I know i'm not thinking my way around the course...;) Also there is no worse feeling then trying to be smart and hitting something other then a driver and then shanking it..... My driver is my best club.... How do you miss with a 420cc head?:D

plus you have excellent distance control with a wedge or short iron.
Never hit to a favorite yardage, bomb it long and have a close chip on.
Many are not comfortable with this approach, for others it is the perfect way to play :D
At least if you are way closer you get a much better look at the green for your approch.

Just does not make a whole lot of sense to me.
I hit my driver a lot. Not on par 3s and then there is maybe a couple of doglegs where a 3 wood or less gets me in to play for a second shot. Its almost gauranteed that I will use my 56* every hole sometimes twice on a hole as I it is rare I hit the green. With my 56* I can hit the green but am not quite good enough to hit the green from farther out except on rare occasions.
Then there are days where I hit my driver so bad, I may as well just put it away and use my 3 wood, that isn't alot shorter than my driver but gives me a better chance of being in the middle of the fairway.
Putter... I use it at least 18 times/round.
As pointed out earlier, the question said "aside from the putter", which would be obvious, making the question a little silly if the putter was included.

It's "smart" if you hit your driver consistently ... but most people I see don't do so. And every golfer is more likely to hit a fairway with a 3-wood than a driver.
I don't disagree that leaving yourself a chip is the way to go, but it's not a universal truth that hitting driver on par 4s gets you to just off the green. What I'm arguing against is the suggestion that people should go to their driver in just about every situation.
Let's say the hole is 320 yards. My options are driver or 3-wood. A driver gets me roughly 80 yards from the hole. A 3-wood gets me to around 110 yards from the hole. Anything under 120 is an easy wedge shot for me ... so why would I hit driver? I'm more consistent with my 3-wood, and more likely to have a fairway approach. The wise choice for me would be to hit my 3-wood.
If the hole is only around 280 or so, with no dogleg -- say, 16 at Don Valley -- sure, I'll hit driver. A driver leaves me 40 yards short on a hole that distance (and on that particular hole, where the tee is well above the green, it gets me just off the green). But in cases like the one above, hitting driver just to get closer isn't necessarily a wise move, when hitting 3-wood is "close enough", and is more likely to get me closer to the hole with my approach shot. 80 yards vs. 100-110 yards isn't enough of an advantage for me to go with the riskier club off the tee.

I can use the driver on 14 of the 18 holes on my course, so I have to say my driver is my most used club.
A close second is my new 56 degree Vokey wedge. I use it from 90 yards in and around the green.
I use a variety of irons, but the 7 iron is used the most. Not only because it happens to be the right yardage in after my drives, but I use it to chip out of the woods when the drives are a little wayward.
