I guess the local rural roads in the KW area are over run with deer as I see them road side almost every night. It occurrs to me tonight that it might not be a bad idea to see about NOT hitting one.

Anyone have any experience (good or bad) with DEER WHISTLES ??

Do they work, is there good and poor ones? Is Canadian Tire the best place to get them or are there better places?

Will, my buddy has a cottage about a 1/2 hour north east of Coldwater and swears by having one on his vehicles.

I can't tell you the brand he's got or where he got it but he's never hit a deer so who's to say if that's the reason or not. For the minimal cost of them, it can't hurt to have one.

They are really popular in the outskirts of Calgary. The first one I saw I had to ask as I had no idea what it was. The peeps out there are big believers of them.

Yes there are alot of deer in the sideroads of Cambridge, K/W. My buddy works for the Fire Dept. and says they deal with alot car crashes due to deer, especially in the Townline rd. area I would think that if the Deer Whistles work.. why not!! Funny I have not thought of that before, instead I stress myself out keeping an eye out for them.. which probably does not work either since they usually come out from nowhere..

Yes, they sure do work. My sister has a pair of them on her car but she also complains that she never sees any wildlife on her way to the cottage. I guess she can't have it both ways.

I don't have one and have never hit a deer. So I could say that it must be the fact that I only use premium gas in my car. Or maybe the fact that my car is blue? Or because my license plate has the # 4 in it. :D

These things do not work. Save your money and just drive more carefully. Slow down and scan the road when you are in an area populated by deer.

Having lived in Westwood Plateau (Coquitlam, near Vancouver), BC. My family encountered deers frequently but never came close to hitting one. We did come close to hitting a bear once in the Rocky Mountains.
