I played men's night tonight and after supper we went out to play a little bit more. One of the player left after the fourth hole because he says there was too many flies...
On his way home he hit a moose which came out of nowhere. Luckily he is OK but his car is in bad shape. I don't know how many people from TO know the size of a moose but it is like a big horse.
This is the second time that a golfer after men's night hit a moose in 8 month. Those damn animal are so dangerous.
Just wanted to share this story...

Yes they are huge animals brother. I'll have to tell you the story of my
buddie and I fishing back of Gull Lake by the tracks (you know that area I'm sure), when we were 11 and got chased by a moose. I can tell you from experiance they don't scare easily:rofl::rofl:.

I hit a deer near Parry Sound a few winters ago....totalled the car and vaporized the deer. (air bags hurt btw)
The cop figured I was going a bit fast. :hush:

Wow, your friend is really luck to walk away unhurt. Hitting a moose (or a large deer) will total most cars.
My friend's brother hit a horse once around the outskirts of Brampton. His car was totalled; what remained of the horse ended up INSIDE the car that was following him. Totalled the second car, too.

the thing about meese is you usually don't see it til it's coming through your windshield. the long skinny legs are bad. and yeah walking away from a car/moose collision is pretty amazing, they usually don't end that way. my uncle clipped one in a dumptruck, busted the radiator front end a bit, moose layed in the ditch for about 30 minutes then got up and walked away

Agreed, my old roommate smoked a deer just outside of Waterloo (!), and wrote off his car.
These things can do a huge amount of damage and can potentially kill if they come through the windshield at the right angle.

The moose is now a dead moose. The car is about the same shape as the moose...lol
That is what drive me nuts about the damn politician that say they people should drive little car because of the pollution. I must know about 10 people that have hit a moose in the last couple of years. A couple of people were killed on impact. In Northern Ontario people that travel usually have bigger vehicule to protect themselves a little bit. After you have seen a moose up close you usually buy a bigger vehicule (SUV, half ton or van).
Usually, you hit the moose in the legs and he flies through the windshield and usually the driver and/or passenger have head and neck injuries.
Really dangerous...

One thing to note about moose is that they are NOT afraid of anything. Except for a pack of wolves, there are not many other predators out in the wild that can take down a fully grown moose.
A co-worker's husband had an accident with a moose at night. Totalled the pickup truck and killed the moose, drove home and went to sleep with hardly any injuries. When they went back to the scene the next day, the moose "disappeared" (ie. someone else hid and then took the moose away for food).

A bull moose can weigh as much as a 1 tonne truck, what would you rather hit?

I don't know about this, a Smart Car would probably hold up better than most SUV's in this case. Of course I chose that for my example since those things are damn near indestructable...

Leaving a gig about 20 years ago we got just outside of Thunderbay passing a grey hound, it flashed its lights off and on at us. Me, being a city boy all I could think of was cop up ahead. Fortunately the driver of the vehicle knew up in that area it meant more. He slowed right down until we stopped and sure enough we saw a moose right in the middle of the road staring at us. I had never seen one before. This thing was massive. The legs were taller than the vehicle. If we had hit it we would have taken its legs out and its gigantic body would have came down on top of us. It just stared at us for about 10 or 15 seconds and then charged off in to the woods. I was amazed. The driver was terrified it was going to charge us. I had no idea that they did that.
