...from different OEM manufacturers actually have an impact on the shaft and shaft flex to be recommended on a fitting?

I'm curious because I went to both the Ping and Taylormade fittings at GT a little while back and, although the Ping fitting was not as conclusive (shifted between stiff and reg shaft) but ended up with a reg flex shaft recommendation, the Taylormade fitter shot me into a stiff shaft after the first 5-10 swings and kept me there.

Any ideas?

Each manufacture has a different idea as to what reg and stiff flex really are from what I understand. TMs stiff may be pings reg.

The short answer is no.

The little longer answer is....

There is really no standard at all for several things in the golf industry and shaft FLEX is one of them.

That I understand. However, I was fitted for aftermarket shafts, not a stock Ping or TM shafts. And, I used both shafts during each of the fittings but the shaft recommended by Ping was not recommended for me by TM and vice versa.
