Wow. This kid has got game!!! I was watching him during his last year as an amature and couldn't believe his composure (combined with a big cup of cockiness). Nonetheless, 6 birdies in a row to take the lead at Colonial is pretty impressive in my books.

Can't ever see him being a people's champion though... he has a pretty crude personality and is not very good with the media.... from what I read, the other tour players are not big fans of his either... reminds me of a young korean Vijay Singh...

Opinions on this kid? Future major champion perhaps?

Don't forget Tiger was pretty awkward with the media when he started out. And in other sports, remember how shy Wayne Gretzky was? Give the kid a chance. All it takes is media training. You can learn it in a weekend.

What's with this Vijay Singh comment? I like Vijay and I think his on camera interviews are calm, cool accurate and great.:thumbs_up Oh well, I guess different strokes for different folks.

way to cocky for me. I've already grown a distaste for him.

Vijay is from Fiji not Korea and I think his humour is a little too dry that most people are getting him (I knew someone who grew up with him and he was considered a real geek as a child).

Re. Anthony Kim just fits with the mold of the rest of the Nike staff, (Ames, Woods, Sabbatini, Casey).

I guess Phil Knight has a special tutorial on outspoken postive thinking when he brings them on board. I would need it also to play Nike equipment.

VJ wasn't always good in interviews, He learned that but I think he's awesome.

I would have thought the cockiness would disappear once being with PGA tour players a fair bit. Growing up when you're a big fish in a small pond it's easy to get really cocky. Normally, once you're back to being a small fish in a big pond ( PGA tour member ) you calm that sh*t down a notch or 2.

Give the kid a while to adjust. Does he speak english well ?

He is an American born Korean so his english is perfect... don't know if he even speaks a word of Korean though... and yes... my name is a dead giveaway.. I am also Korean... but guess we come from different lineage since I obviously didn't get the same golf genes...

As much as I want to cheer for the Korean boy... its tough... if you ever listen to interviews during his amateur tournaments, Qschool etc... kid is just cocky... not just confident... but plain cocky... I believe during Q school the kid was quoted at one point saying when referring to the last round "I am getting bored".... stupid kid...

We'll give him some time and see if he comes around... but not good in my books thus far...

Fair enough... with the amount of talent this kid has... hopefully he matures quickly on tour... i can see a major win in his future...

The guy can play - thats for sure. I've seen a few interviews with him an my impression is that he's just a young player trying to make his mark and all the media is a little too overwhelming for him. He did come off as a jerk in some interviews, and a decent guy in others. We'll see how things go for him over the next little while... maybe he'll loosen up some.
