Hey guys/gals I am in a serious funk here and need some help. I am by no means a good golfer but I was in the mid to low 80's all last season with an index of 11-12. My strength is iron play and putting... the driver is usually what hurts my game.

I started off the season all over the place ... 95 one day and 82 the next and now it seems that I struggle to break 100 almost every time out. I am hitting everything with a nasty hook, unless I try to hold off my hands and then it is straight, but right.

When I finish my swing my body is way out in front... my upper body is past my forward foot. I cant seem to slow my body down and keep it centred ...

Anyone have a drill that can help me sync my upper and lower body? I need to start shooting in the low 80's again before I want to quit ... haha I don’t think I would ever quit this game... I love to hate myself far too much to do that.

Just frustrating when you are trying to break 80 on a daily basis one season and the next you are trying to stay in the 90's.

I'm looking forward to this resonse myself. I'm in a very similar situation both score wise (well, maybe not low 80's all that often, but sometimes close) and in terms of ball flight. It drives me crazy that I can go from feeling fairly confident in the general outcome of most shots (at least to the point where I know I won't lose the ball) to having to say a short prayer before each shot.

Don't let it come to this, all year I've been playing prolly the worst golf I had in 20 years....suddenly, I'm hitting the ball great and my swing all week at the range just feels amazing.

Really don't think anyone can help you much sight unseen so get a good set of eyes on you.

It sounds to me like you don't move off the ball during your backswing therefore when you move down the target line you get past impact quite quickly.

Make sure that when you reach the top of your backswing your back faces the target and your sternum (centre of your chest ) is over your right foot.

From here you can move foreward through impact and not get past the ball hitting blocks.

Timing is more easily found by swinging the shaft end of the club at the ground and holding the club near the head.

You can do drills without the club at home in front of a mirror where you just fold your arms over your chest making an X and make shoulder turns transferring your weight.

If you have questions you can always PM me for my msn address.

Take a steel broken shaft with grip and ram the tip into the ground outside but touching your left foot. Now when you swing clear the upper part of the steel shaft and grip with your hips. If you touch the shaft you swayed left.
