at least she is proving that she deserves the exemption!! I am sure she will be interviewed after the round and the talk will all be about the wrist pains that it isn't totally healed yet...

Alena finished with a -2. Good for her!

Did it say anywhere why MW pulled out?

I believe her wrist is still no good. Remember what Venturi, John Cook and Scott Verplank went through. I am no apologist for the Wie clan but something is way out of kilter.

Well it was an interesting career.

It does make you wonder a little. She says in one breath that her withdrawal was legitimately due to injury, and not the very real risk that she'd shoot an 88 and be barred from playing on the LPGA tour this year ... but in the next breath, she says she might be playing next week.

I'm probably being a bit too cynical, but if she shows no signs of this injury and plays next week, I'll be wondering.

Bye bye TV rating for TGC...They can always show endless replays of her leaving the course. When she was hauled off in an ambulance last year, they milked that for all it was worth!

Perhaps there's a Golf Channel reality series around the corner ... Trauma: Life in the Wie-R.

Didn't see any of the coverage today, was she shown holding her wrist after a shot, massaging it during the round etc......anything to imply that it was troubling her BEFORE her manager pointed out that bogey, bogey finish would cause big problems to her plans this year?

Coverage does not start until 6:30 pm on TGC. I am sure you will see a lot of early round coverage and I am certain she will be featured prominently.

I am interested to see her 10 on par 5.

You guys all kill me. You are more interested in watching the Wie chop fest than our young Canadian player who kicked her a$$ by 16 shots. There has been one positive comment about Alena's play and the rest about Wie.

Nice.

If you could get TGC to show Alena Sharp, I will be watching...

Wait, given the TGC will be showing Wie excessively, we might be able to catch glimpses of her shadows...

Alena Sharp is quoted in this article:

Sharp had the same concerns.
http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=2888679
"Anybody can say something from outside the ropes," she said. "But he was too close. He's always so close to her. You're going to get your daughter in trouble. Everyone at the range was talking about it."

There we go! That'll make rgk5 happy. We're not talking about Wie ... We're talking about what Alena thinks of Wie. :D

Actually, I think Alena would have been well-advised to bite her tongue ... She sounds critical and accusing in that article, even if she does say she "felt bad for her" at the end.

Alena always speaks her mind. Kind of refreshing these days compared to the "handler controlled" players.

Come today [Saturday], move up the leaderboard Alena ...

Alena finished T-45 after failing to move up on weekend.

And once again, #1 female player in the world I-Choke-Ahh hit her tee shot OB in the playoff and lost.

You seem to relish in trashing this fine player. Here is some food for thought.

My old friend Nick Weslock told me this many years ago.

"You have to be in a position to win, before you can lose."

Nick won over 300 tournaments including four Can. Amateurs and eight Ont. Amateurs. Nick said he choked many times when he was younger.

Annika and Faldo had the same reputation early in their carreers.

I don't relish trashing Ochoa as much as the next person. I just think for the #1 player in a given sport, she seems to buckle under pressure more than other #1 players in other sports. It is fine for the #2,3,4 etc players to choke down the stretch (that's why they are not #1), but for the #1 ranked player, it is a bit of a underwhleming.

She is Oh-fer so far in playoff, and mostly to unheralded players...
