I'm struggling off the tee at the moment (i.e. the last 4 years!) and am looking to change that. Has anybody been to the new centre at WB for a fitting? I'm thinking there instead of one of the OEM locations, as I want to try as many drivers as available. Thanks for any input.

They have, I'd assume, the most current launch monitor equipement in the area. They do only have Titleist, Taylor Made and Callaway demo wands but they DO have the most important one .... Titleist.

Another nice feature is you hit balls outside so you can see the ball flight to verify what the launch monitor says visually.

The service is not free, btw.

Thanks GRT. The website says they also have Nike (and Ping?), and it's $100 for an hour - so I know it's not cheap. I do like the fact it is outdoors - swinging in Golf Town or wherever doesn't work for me, for some reason. Anybody else know anything about it, the fitters etc?

Alan, imo, get a lesson or two first, waste money on a new driver second.

I have three drivers, I can either hit all three well or not at all. When I can't hit driver it's me, not the club.

Can't buy a game.

Troll,

Normally I would agree with you, but the swing is fine - currently off 4.1, in spite of my 29% FIR. Everything else is working ok, from 3 wood to lob wedge, I just can't get it in play with the big stick :help:

Are you trying too hard to hit driver?

For what it's worth, I am of the opinion that most people would score better if they hit 3 wood instead of driver. On Monday I hit 2-iron off the tee most of the day and had the best score I had ever had at that course. Most of us lose more strokes with the driver than we gain.

Am I trying too hard to hit the driver, or trying to hit the driver too hard? :D

Likely some of both - I would probably score the same hitting just my 3 wood, and many rounds I do, but with my length I hate resigning most par 5's to three shots before I tee off. It's the trade off, but I would like to at least have a good option.

I've put my 510TP back in the bag for now - if it behaves for a while I might just book that lesson anyway:)
