I tend to follow Mike's stats and i've noticed that his driving distance for the past few tournaments have been up. Most notably this week, he is ranked 9th thus far.

I always check stats as well, and follow Weir's and other shorter golfer's stats regularly (Tim Clark, Gavin Coles). It would seem that distances can change dramatically with the course and how it's setup. My understanding is that there can be a 10-20 yard difference depending on what hole is being used and how fast they cut the fairways. I think as the summer heats up you'll see the ball go further.
If I read your post correctly, you're wondering if there is a correllation between his new Plummer/Bennett swing and his distance. I would say that at his level, it's doubtful that the new swing is giving him the extra yardage.

Only thing is, he said he was ranked 9th, and didn't state his driving distance. His post was speaking in relative terms, compared to the rest of the field, not an absolute driving distance. Mike Weir is never ranked 9th in distance.

Mike's currently ranked 108th in the world with an avg. distance 281.6 yds, up from 112 last year. Haven't seen his new swing yet. What's it like?

Wilf is the only one who can clarify his statement, I replied based on what I "thought" he was asking. The title of the post combined with the statements in the body, leads me to think that he is wondering if there is correlation between the "new swing" and his "driving distance" stat being "UP".
That was my interpretation of this post.
Bilinguru: Haven't seen his new swing but I did read the article in GD. Baddeley is a Plummer/Bennett student. The mechanics are quite distinctive so that should give us some insight into what Weir's going to look like.

Firm fast fairways and he may hit more drivers and fairwoods offf the tee then the longer players.
I think he would have to slow his tempo and create mor epower with a coil. Not really sure though.
